About this property

Offering a delightful mid-terrace cottage in the lovely East Yorkshire village of Roos, just a stone's throw from the coast, is Thames Cottage. Enjoying an enclosed garden, a woodburning stove and within proximity to the village's amenities, Thames Cottage makes a lovely base for enjoying the coast and countryside as a family; three guests and two furry companions are welcomed. Park up to the front, before heading inside into the homely sitting room, with the woodburning stove taking centre stage, perfect for relaxing in front of beneath the beamed ceilings. A lovely dining space can be found in the kitchen/diner, with the table and chairs set before the large patio doors looking out to the garden, and an excellent well-equipped kitchen offers all you need for a self-catered stay. Step out into the garden to dine alfresco, watch as your dog’s stretch their legs on the lawn, and relish your own private outdoor space. The white tiled bathroom is home to a bath with a shower over, so you can choose between a relaxing soak or refreshing shower. Settle down in one of the two bedrooms in the evening, with a spacious double bedroom and a lovely single room, as well as the use of the sofa bed in the sitting room for one extra guest if needed. The village of Roos is home to Melbourne Butchers & Bakery which offers amazing fresh, local produce and baked goods as well as essentials, with two pubs as well, all within walking distance of Thames Cottage so you can head out for the evening and not worry about driving back. One of the best spots for fishing in the area is Tunstall Beach, while the beach at Withernsea is popular for windsurfing and sailing, has lifeguards patrolling in summer and is backed by a beautifully redeveloped promenade with several great cafés, fish and chip shops, and pubs. Over in the bustling city of Hull you can find a host of attractions including The Deep which is Hull's huge aquarium home to over 3000 creatures including sharks, Hull Minster known as England's largest parish church and home to a 17th century organ, the Queen's Gardens, and of course the River Hull and Humber Estuary where boat cruises and trips can be enjoyed. Over in Burton Constable you can delight in exploring the 16th century estate of Burton Constable Hall & Gardens, it's a historic day out with a house tour, fascinating artefacts and collections, and beautiful grounds. For a wonderful holiday in East Yorkshire enjoy a stay at Thames Cottage.

Roos is a charming hamlet on England's east coast. Visitors can reach the wonderful beaches, in a relatively short trip, ideal for a family vacation. The village itself is lovely and traditional, and it has a parish church that is Grade I listed. Old cottages and homes may be seen in the historic village, which also has a church, a primary school for the Church of England, a village hall, a butcher shop, and a bakery. The charming town of Withernsea is close by and is definitely worth a visit while you're in the region. In close proximity to Roos is the vibrant, stunning city of Hull.

And very helpful and friendly owner

No welcome pack as stated but the owner’s son who lives next door (not intrusive) kindly got some coffee and milk for us. Only essential provided is a toilet roll so you’ll need to take kitchen roll etc with you. Also take a torch as there is no street lighting and it’s pitch black at night. Parking is just across the road from the cottage and the back garden is a good size, ideal for pets. The cottage is within easy reach of Withernsea where there are supermarkets, and the local beaches are lovely. Our dogs , and us, had a great time.
