About this property

This detached, traditional farmhouse dating back to 1700 rests on the farm on the outskirts of the pretty village of Thorngumbald, in the East Riding of Yorkshire. Featuring exposed beams and amazing views across open countryside towards the River Humber, the 300 year old property offers a welcoming retreat for families looking to come together and explore this region of Yorkshire, with access to the port city of Hull just five miles away. Off-road parking spaces will greet you upon arrival; unload your baggage into the hallway and take a moment to appreciate the fresh rural air. Spend your down time in the spacious kitchen/dining/living area, appointed with two leather sofas, an armchair, a woodburning stove and a wall-mounted TV, here you catch up on your favourite shows after a day of walking.

Allow the chef of the house to get acquainted in the kitchen, utilising all the basic amenities required to rustle up a delicious meal, while the others set the dining table for a group feast. After dinner, relax in the inviting separate lounge. You will also find an office area for quiet working. On a warm day, relax in the conservatory with a good book, or head outside to the enclosed garden patio, superbly presented with a seating area under a wooden pergola, along with an alluring hot tub for the ultimate way to relax. The bedrooms at this Thorngumbald home lie upstairs, offering the choice of two king-size doubles with en-suite showers, a further king-size and and a twin, served by a lovely bathroom.

When you’re ready to explore, the local village of Thorngumbald offers two welcoming pubs; visit micro bar The New Royal Mail and enjoy award winning food at The Camerton, ideal for when you don’t fancy cooking, there is also a local Co-op for picking up any essentials. Those with children can head to The Deep, a spectacular aquarium, home to over three thousand creatures and located less than five miles away, or visit East Park and brave a ride on the Wicksteed splash boat, visit the animal education centre or stroll around 130 acres of parkland. Or visit the unique Spurn Point National Nature Reserve which curves between the North Sea and the Humber Estuary.

Alternatively, visit Beverley Minster, one of Europe's finest Gothic churches and see the fine stained glass windows and medieval stone carvings. Days out to the bustling city of Hull are recommended, where you can walk across the iconic Humber Bridge, which was once the world’s longest suspension bridge, unravel local history at the Streetlife Museum of Transport, visit the stately home of Burton Constable Hall, the filming location of the BBC’s Antique Roadshow, before refueling at a host of award-winning restaurants and pubs. The East Coast resorts of Bridlington, Filey and Scarborough may also be on your to-do list, filled with glorious beaches and a bustling seaside atmosphere.

Take on the delights of East Yorkshire with a visit to Green Marsh Farm.

Thorngumbald, once a Viking settlement, is now a picturesque village in the East Riding of Yorkshire's Holderness district. The village is now mostly residential, however there are a chemist, newsagents, convenience store, a family butcher, a fish and chip shop, and two pubs, The New Royal Mail and The Camerton, that provide local amenities. In the calm countryside of Yorkshire, the surrounding area offers a fantastic selection of walking, running, and cycling trails. The village also holds annual events such as the Gala and Scarecrow Trail. Hull, a port city with award-winning culture, amazing food and drink, and excellent retail possibilities in The Hepworth Arcade, is only 8 miles away.
