About this property

Perched in the bustling seaside resort of Bridlington in East Riding of Yorkshire, is this lovely two-bedroom Victorian end-terraced house, Postman’s Cottage. Named after a former owner, William Percival Tye, a postman, who bought it about 100 years ago, on a private loan for just a few shillings a week, and enjoying a prime position along the coast with easy access to the stunning Flamborough Headland Heritage Coast and the Bempton Cliffs, Postman’s Cottage is a wonderful pet-friendly dwelling for couples or a family of four, plus their canine companion, seeking a coastal escape. Step into the spacious living/dining room, where you can look forward to relaxing in the evenings after a day of adventure in front of your favourite film on the TV. Completing this space is a handy workspace offering a fixed folding desk and plenty of sockets, should you need to work while in this home-from-home. Rustle up delicious meals in the well-equipped kitchen, featuring a slimline dishwasher, ready to enjoy at the dining table for four or alfresco out on the private patio as your pooch stretches their legs. When the evening cools, retreat to the sun room where you can continue to enjoy the last of the day’s rays along with your favourite tipple. Just off the sun room you will find a handy shower/utility room, where you can rinse off sandy toes after day at the beach and freshen up your holiday wardrobe. Climb the stairs up to the first floor, where you will discover two well-appointed bedrooms, a king-size with TV and a king-size with zip/link, both of which are served by a bathroom, perfect for preparing for the day ahead in style. Explore your local surroundings, where you will find the welcoming Telegraph Inn just moments away, for when you want to sample the local ales, or if you don’t feel like cooking, why not treat your loved ones to a tasty meal at Supattra Thai or Buddha Bar? When the chef of the group needs a break, there are the local favourites White's Bakehouse and The Bar With No Name where you can fill up after a day of exploring.

There is also a well-stocked supermarket and convenience store within walking distance for when you need to stock up on essentials. Pack up your bathing suit, swimming trunks and towels and head straight for the glorious sands of Bridlington South Beach, where you can bathe, tuck-in to fresh fish and chips or paddle the shores. Enjoy a leisurely stroll along the promenade, where you will find a plethora of eateries available, as well as the town’s picturesque harbour where you can watch the boats come in. Other attractions you won’t want to miss are the remarkable Bridlington Priory, Bridlington Spa, the John Bull World of Rock and Bridlington Animal Park. Take the short drive over to Sewerby, where you can visit the grand Georgian house of Sewerby Hall & Gardens housing a zoo and scenic woodland walks. Continue onto Flamborough, where you will find The Drinking Dinosaur formation, Flamborough Head Golf Club and the beautiful Selwicks Bay. For the keen twitchers in your party, RSPB Bempton Cliffs is the perfect spot for catching a glimpse of seabirds and puffins, or for simply soaking up the breath-taking views on offer. All this and more awaits with a stay at Postman’s Cottage.

South of Scarborough and Filey lies the seaside resort of Bridlington on Yorkshire's east coast. The historic harbour is surrounded by two award-winning beaches of golden sand, both bustling with activity. Beautifully designed promenades feature everything from amusement parks to quiet nooks to take in the sights and sounds of the surrounding area. Visitors to Bridlington will find a fascinating contrast to beach life, where the latest Dad's Army has been shot, and the historic "Old Town" provides a variety of shops, attractions, restaurants, and historic buildings to explore.

! We have stayed at vacation homes for over 20 years and Postman's Cottage takes TOP billing. EVERYthing you need including a washer & tumble dryer and the house is clean, clean, clean! Ruth is a super hostess who thinks of all the thoughtful extras. Our first time to Bridlington- a great seaside destination and the cottage is a short walk to it all- Spa, beaches and Old Town/Priory. Glad to be returning for another visit to Postman's Cottage.

Extremely comfortable and welcoming, everything has been thought of and catered for by the owner. The welcome of wine, fudge and fresh flowers on arrival was a lovely additional touch. There was also fresh milk in the fridge. We had a lovely relaxing time at The Postman's Cottage. It is warm, cozy and has a wonderful comfy bed in lovely stylish surroundings. It is only 10 to 15 minutes walk to Bridlington Promenade with access to the beach and a lovely walk to Fraisthorpe and only the same to the Old Town in the opposite direction. They also welcomed our dogs and we were able to park directly outside the cottage. All in all a fabulous place to stay and highly recommended.
