Had a lovely stay here in such an interesting place, with loads of history. Yes the layout is a bit quirky, the dining room/kitchen is dark, and the bathroom sink is small, but none of these caused us any issues. Great location with loads to do within a short drive but the location feels very tranquil. Would stay here again and looking forward to seeing the renovation the rest of the house.

TL:DR - Amazing grounds. Weird decor, lacking kitchenette. Overall wouldn't recommend for anything more than a quick stopover where cooking doesn't feature. What a mixed bag this property was.Cottages.com double booked us - which cut our stay in half. They sorted it out, and compensated us appropriately - but this didn't get us off to a good start.Staying at the property was such a mixed experience for us. We went with another family (4 adults, 4 kids total). Wow is the building grand, and it's set in stunning grounds. But the key pick up location was totally wrong, and we got in by guesswork and a process of elimination. The renovation work done so far to the property is good - but the decor decisions are simply bizarre. To be welcomed into a grand property by framed tarrot / demonic images wasn't exactly the vibe we were expecting, and we had to run round the flat vetting each room before letter our 8 and 5 year old explore more. Personal taste goes some way - but this seems a bit much. There's only one bathroom - which is....fine. The kitchenette really is that - it's small, dingy, and ill-equipped. We spotted beforehand, and so brought *everything* with us (air fryers, slow cookers etc etc). But the fridge is very small for eight people, and the freezer is just an ice-tray compartment. But it all depends what you're hoping from the property - just a party with an overnight stay? It'll be fine. A week long family holiday? I wouldn't recommend it if you do your own cooking.Frank, the estate manager was a legend and helped us feel at ease. The grounds are beautiful and provide a perfect playground for kids, and a wonderful place to be when it's warm. Lots of stuff to do not too far from the house.

My only criticism of the Hall is that there was only one bathroom/toilet in the whole place. An en-suite or separate toilet would make a big difference in my opinion.Having said that it did not spoil our stay which was very enjoyable.
