About this property

This delightful property sits within the quiet village of Stanbury, close to Haworth in West Yorkshire. This stone cottage is ideal for walking and history enthusiasts looking to explore a fabulous region within Yorkshire. Situated on the circular Brontё walk to Top Withens and Brontё Waterfall, this makes the perfect base for those seeking a healthy break and fresh air. Set over two floors and affording lovely views across the valley and towards the reservoir, Sarah’s Cottage is a great choice for families and couples. Exposed beams uplift the interior, along with beautiful fixtures and fittings, promising the ultimate home-from-home feel. The kitchen/diner offers a contemporary design, fully equipped for all your cooking requirements. From here, make your way to the sitting room, complete with a gas fire and Smart TV for your evening entertainment. The first floor comprises of a master king-size bedroom, showcasing charming views out towards the wild landscape that inspired Emily Brontё's 'Wuthering Heights', in addition to a homely single bedroom complete with a chair bed. Completing the upstairs space is the bathroom, offering a choice of both a bath and a shower so you can best decide how to prepare for the day. To the exterior is a beautiful, shared garden with spectacular views that never become tiresome; you will also find a separate garage so you can securely store your vehicle whilst enjoying the local attractions. Stanbury is a lovely and delightful moorland village, speckled with charming cottages and offering stunning views over the Worth Valley. Right on your doorstep, you’ll find the popular Wuthering Heights Pub and The Friendly for sampling local ales, the welcoming Silent Inn Pub, perfect for treating your loved ones to a meal out, and the Lower Laithe Reservoir and nearby Penistone Country Park for leisurely strolls. Head into the nearby village of Haworth where you can wander the traditional cobbles street and discover a wealth of shops, cafés and eateries. Haworth also has some fascinating attractions including the Brontë Parsonage Museum, which book worms are guaranteed to love, and the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway, offering a historical exhibition that will wind back the years! Less than 15 miles away is the market town of Skipton, voted as the Best Place to Live in Britain 2014, with its cobbled streets and charming castle; while further afield rests the Victorian spa town of Harrogate, offering fabulous shopping opportunities, a splendid theatre, and the Royal Pump Room Museum. Within the surrounding area there are many National Trust properties to visit, including Riddlesden Hall, Piece Hall and Shibden Hall, all offering their own period furnishings and neat gardens. Tick off the wonders of West Yorkshire with an escape at Sarah’s Cottage.

Stanbury, a picturesque village in West Yorkshire, is not far from the landscape that served as inspiration for Emily Bronte's novels. It's about 4 miles south-west of Keighley and about a mile from Haworth. Stanbury is located in the middle of farmland and wild moors, not far from the abandoned farmhouse Top Withens, which is widely credited as the creative spark for Emily Bront's Wuthering Heights. As a landmark along the Pennine Way, a National Trail frequented by hikers from all over the country, this location is a major draw for walkers. There are a few bars in the area, as well as a church and a school; however, the town of Haworth, just a short distance away, has many more services. Historical events, exhibits, and a gift shop can all be found at the Bronte Parsonage Museum, the former residence of the Bronte family. The Keighley and Worth Valley Railway, made famous by the film The Railway Children, runs regularly to the nearby town of Oxenhope, and makes for a wonderful family outing. York is home to the National Railway Museum and the National Trust's East Riddlesden Hall, both of which are set in lovely gardens. You are also close to the lovely towns of Harrogate and Skipton, and the magnificent Yorkshire Dales. Then there are the bustling urban centres of Leeds and Manchester, each of which offers a wide variety of restaurants, bars, and other entertainment options. An endearing vacation home to call home base.

Immaculately presented and well equipped, friendly welcoming owners that live next door, available if needed but not seen if you want your space. Plenty of places to eat locally, we loved the appetising food at the Wuthering Heights Inn, a 2 minute walk from the cottage. A fabulous holiday cottage that I would definitely recommend.

Nicola & Steve, our hosts, could not have been more accommodating even taking me to collect a takeaway. This is an exceptional cottage if compared to other places we’ve stayed at and we will revisit for sure.
