Guests say

This summary has been generated using feedback from guests who have stayed at this property

Pebworth Cottage is highly praised for its cleanliness, comfort, and thoughtful touches, including a generous welcome hamper. Guests appreciate the property's quiet location, ideal for exploring nearby attractions. The cottage's cosy atmosphere, underfloor heating, and wood burner are recurrent positive notes. Some guests mention minor issues with kitchen equipment and maintenance, but overall experiences are overwhelmingly positive, with many keen to return.

Cleanliness

The cottage receives high marks for cleanliness, with numerous guests describing it as spotless and well-maintained. One mention of broken glass and cobwebs suggests a slight inconsistency, but this appears to be an isolated incident in an otherwise exemplary record.

Location

The location is frequently commended for its tranquillity and proximity to local attractions, making it an ideal base for exploring. The village's peacefulness and the nearby amenities contribute to the high score, although no specific negative comments provide a contrast.

Comfort

Comfort is a strong point for the cottage, with guests noting the warm welcome of underfloor heating and the cosiness provided by the wood burner. The comfortable beds and overall homeliness of the cottage are also highlighted, with only a few comments about a cold downstairs bedroom and creaky floorboards.

Facilities

Facilities are generally well-received, with special mentions of the kitchen and bathroom amenities. However, some guests note the lack of certain kitchen utensils, serving dishes, and glassware, as well as the absence of electric points in the bathroom for shavers, which slightly lowers the score.

Thoughtfulness

The thoughtfulness of the hosts is evident in the welcome hamper provided, which is frequently mentioned and appreciated by guests. While the hamper is a highlight, it is important to note that such gifts, though common, are not guaranteed for every stay.

About this property

A superb detached cottage ideally located in the centre of the pretty village of Pebworth, just a short distance from the historic towns of Chipping Campden and Stratford-upon-Avon. It has links to actor Sir Ben Kingsley. He originally rented an apartment in the village whilst working at the RSC, and this apartment was in Pebworth House that stands opposite the church. Upon achieving fame with his film role Ghandi, the actor bought the whole property from his landlady and the grounds on the proviso that he would build a cottage in the orchard for her and her family. The result is Pebworth Cottage which has mellowed over the years to be part of the village and is now, after extensive renovation, ready for guests to enjoy. It is beautifully furnished with everything needed for a luxurious break in a stunning part of the country. Enter the cottage into a light and welcoming hall, ideal for storing walking gear or wellies and make your way to the stunning, well-equipped kitchen with granite worktops and a stable door to the rear garden. Next door the gorgeous dining room makes the perfect place for catching up with friends over dinner. From the dining room is a bright and light sitting room, with warming woodburning stove, sumptuous sofas and large windows and glass doors. From the hall make your way to the first floor where you will find three beautiful bedrooms all boasting high-quality beds and bed linen, plus the two front bedrooms have the added benefit of amazing views of the surrounding countryside. Back on the ground floor is a superb king-size bedroom complete with stunning en-suite (accessed via stairs to the first floor) with a slipper bath ideal for a long soak after a day exploring the area, and a luxurious double shower. A beautiful bathroom is situated on the first floor as well as a wet room on the ground floor off the hall. Step outside and enjoy alfresco dining or family games in the enclosed cottage garden or take a short drive and enjoy a meal at one of the many excellent pubs in the area including a 13th century thatched tavern at Honeybourne or The Fleece at Breatforton, owned by the National Trust. Further afield, there are many unspoilt towns and villages in the area, with Broadway, Stow-on-the-Wold and Moreton-in-Marsh all within easy reach.

Pebworth dates back to Saxon times and boasts many timber framed buildings and thatched cottage. Located on the edge of the Cotswolds the village plays host to many local events throughout the year including the Open Garden scheme and rural cinema. A short drive takes you to the famous villages of Broadway and Chipping Campden, as well as Morton in Marsh and Evesham to name just a few.
