What our customers say about their holidays

    • William - Verified booking

The host and house were very welcoming.

It was ideal for our family and we had a enjoyable stay. The stay was a little spoiled as the dishwasher could not be operated for the whole weekend. There were two wheels missing off one side of the lower tray, which when loaded dropped onto the revolving sprayer. Sandra did call around that same day but her keys did not open any of the doors and she left us a note. The WiFi connection was poor and would be improved if the router was relocated more centrally; say in in the dining room. There is a file full of the instruction booklets for every piece of kit in the house but the file lacks a typed A4 sheet giving a few guidelines. The shower in the shared bathroom needs the switches in the cupboard to be on. When you go for a shower there the initial impression is that there is no hot water. Wearing only a towel is not the time to go exploring. Perhaps a plasticated note in the bathrooms could solve this. In other places we have stayed there is usually a notice asking for the beds to be stripped at the end of the stay. The fans in the bathrooms do not work when the light is switched on.. If there are switches for them they are not visible. It is not possible to lock the shared bathroom door which is not very convenient. Notwithstanding this we had a great weekend. There were a lot of condiments which we did not expect and the Prosecco, fudge and cakes were both delicious and well received. Oh the guidelines could also add that the College Arms accepts dogs. Thank Sandra for us. I am sure she did her best. The guideline sheet and a few plasticated notes are easy to arrange. We hope she found that we had left the place clean and tidy.

We had a lovely weekend stay in Heath Cottage Stratford upon Avon to celebrate my Husband’s birthday.

The cottage is cosy and the extra amenities such as; a dishwasher, washing machine, sky box, etc. that make your stay more relaxing. The beds were very comfortable and while there was some noise from the pub opposite as other reviewers mentioned (I only noticed this as I’m somewhat of a night owl) it didn’t stop me any of us from sleeping. Including my 6 month old son who is an incredibly light sleeper. We loved having the use of the hot tub, which is really why we chose to stay at this property over others. I would agree with other reviews that there does seem to be a problem with the Wi-Fi connection dropping repeatedly. Thankfully this didn’t particularly affect our stay short here as we spent most of the time enjoying the town and the hot tub in the garden. My almost 3 year old son loved his “little holiday house” and particularly enjoyed his trip to the ‘cookie cottage’ down shrives walk. Annabel the house keeper was very helpful via text prior to our arrival and we didn’t need much more assistance as everything else was quite self explanatory, with signs explaining use of the hot tub etc.

We had a great stay at Elmhurst Cottage.

On arrival there were treats beyond expecation in the form of a box of chocolates, prosecco and a lovely home made cake! In terms of the property itself, it was very clean, comfortable and more than big enough for 2 families with 3 children between them to have fun. The garden was fantastic for little ones to run around in. If we generally visited the same places again we would consider coming back to the cottage, it's location close to Stratford upon Avon was good and to get to some major towns and sights within The Costwolds was around a half hour drive at a minimum. We didn't venture that far south, which may be a consideration if choosing to visit The Cotswolds, but that is no complaint of the property which was presented beautifully and very comfortable. One note, the church bells continue to ring overnight in the village, not much the proprietor can do about this of course, just something to factor in if you are a light sleeper.

The cottage is lovely with lot of space for our group.

The gardens were fantastic for the dogs.it is in a lovely village location with the pub just 100 yards away. Everything was provided but sadly the was no Internet and so we had no TV as the cottage has Sky TV (which is a rare provision). Also the boys could not play on their games and even worse you could not get a phone signal in the cottage. The owner said it was the fault of BT which was beyond their control. Had this worked it would be very good as the owners even had a Mesh system installed to improve quality. This had a major impact on everybody. The bed in our room was collapsed in the middle so it was very uncomfortable. There were two BBQs provided and the owner even left a lovely big cake on arrival, a coffee machine and everything you could want or need. The microwave did not work and the owner immediately delivered a brand new one. Overall a superb cottage, well equipped and located. Everybody enjoyed themselves.

Elmhurst was the perfect property for a large fanily Christmas together.

The cottage was decorated beautifully and a festive welcome pack was also provided (the cake will be talked about for many years to come!!). The cottage is homely and cosy, but also large enough for people to spread out and have their own space. The kitchen was so well equipped and the ovens were perfect for cooking a large Christmas dinner. The extra freezer and drinks coolers were a nice touch and were used daily. Beds were comfy and the bedrooms very spacious and clean. The enclosed garden was perfect for our 2 small dogs, and the gate between the kitchen and dining room ensured that they didn’t go into the other rooms with their wet paws. A really wonderful week for us all. We couldn’t recommend this cottage enough and we all feel that the online photographs don’t do the cottage justice as they don’t show the extent of the room layout downstairs. Thankyou Amanda and family
