About this property

Tucked away in the charming village of Edgmond lies this character, detached property, Longcourt Cottage. Boasting a traditional cottage feel, this inviting base is well-equipped for a family retreat with a number of local amenities from the doorstep. After parking up along the roadside, unload your baggage into the hallway and get to know your new home-from-home. The sitting room boasts a sumptuous corner sofa, ideal for lounging upon after a long day, while the alluring gas fire is a delight on those cold winter evenings. Move into the kitchen, fitted to an excellent standard with electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge, dishwasher and even a washing machine, so you won’t have to pack your whole wardrobe! While the chef rustles up something good, prepare the dining room by lighting the log burner, set the table with crockery and cutlery, perhaps even opening a bottle of wine to celebrate a long-awaited break? The interior of the cottage keeps in character with its old age, emphasized through the exposed beams and wooden doors. The bedrooms at this Edgmond cottage are situated upstairs, including a king-size with feature roll-top bath, a king-size room with zip/link beds for flexibility and a twin, ideal for the little ones. Start your morning with a rinse in the shower room before heading to the enclosed courtyard with a cup of coffee in hand. When you’re ready to explore, Edgmond is a lovely village with a pub serving delicious food and drinks, as well as a village shop with a post office, so you’ll be well-equipped for a week long stay. The surrounding area will be a real haven for walkers, with many rural villages connecting by scenic trails, such as the popular Wrekin, a hill that has glorious vistas of the Shropshire Hills, a perfect ramble. Continuing your meander along the canal, taking in the tranquil surroundings, leading to the town of Newport, where a host of shops, pubs and wine bars line the high street. Spend a day in the market town of Shrewsbury, offering plenty to do including its abbey, castle and gardens, along with the National Trust’s Attingham Park, which is well worth a visit. However you choose to spend your time in Shropshire, make valuable memories together at Longcourt Cottage.

Edgmond, a Shropshire village in the Telford and Wrekin borough, has two pubs, a Methodist chapel and hall, as well as a shop and post office. Harper Adams University, The Playing Fields, where Sunday cricket games and pub football matches are held, and the old sandstone quarry known as the 'Rock Hole' are all located here. The canal walk, which leads down to the town of Newport, is popular with locals and visitors to the community. Chetwynd Deer Park, a stunning 18th century landscape park with mature trees and large grassland on the outskirts of Edgmond, presently serves as the agricultural showgrounds. The town of Newport has many shops along its main street, as well as a variety of pubs and wine bars.
