About this property

Tannery Cottage is a terraced cottage situated in the heart of the market town of Much Wenlock, Shropshire. Just a moment's walk from a range of shops, restaurants and pubs, Tannery Cottage offers a character abode for a family seeking a stay in this part of Shropshire. Unlock the door and step into your home-away-from-home in this charming building and discover your inner history buff. The kitchen/diner provides the perfect place to mingle and cook up a storm with exposed stone and well-equipped amenities. Continue into the sitting room and relax in front of the Smart TV with Sky, or curl up with a good book as you admire the woodburning stove. Upstairs there are three neatly presented bedrooms, a king-size with en-suite shower, a king-size and a single which share Jack-and-Jill access to a bathroom. To complete the perfect stay, take a step outside and admire the tiered patio garden at the rear, complete with furniture for a spot of alfresco dining. Wander the streets of Much Wenlock and browse a range of independent shops and tasty eateries, along with a range of historical attractions including Much Wenlock Priory, a site of a monastery for almost 900 years. Take a step back in time and travel to the Historic hilltop town of Bridgnorth, where you’ll find the beautiful riverside walk as well as the cliff railway, an experience you won’t forget! Church Stretton is also just a short drive away, where you can find the stunning Cardingmill Valley and its breathtaking views, or spend the day exploring the Long Mynd range. Further afield you have Shrewsbury, Ludlow and Kidderminster, but whether you’re looking for a relaxing stay or an adventure-filled getaway, Tannery Cottage is the perfect base.

This delightful 700-year old market town lies on the north east end of the famous Wenlock Edge, in the heart of the beautiful Shropshire countryside. Considered the birthplace of the modern Olympic Games, the town is filled with a patchwork of twisting streets, black and white half timbered buildings, limestone cottages, speciality shops, quality pubs and restaurants. Stroll round the remains of the magnificent 12th century priory, 16th century Guildhall, the interesting Norman church and the Old Gaol House. Above the town rises the 15 mile long Wenlock Edge, boasting glorious views and excellent walking, cycling, and riding. Nearby are the wonderful medieval towns of Shrewsbury, Bridgnorth and Ludlow, the World Heritage Centre of Ironbridge with nine museums and Blists Hill Victorian Village, plus the amazing Wroxeter Roman City and Stokesay Castle.

We were so pleased with everything. The layout worked wonderfully for three generations. What a find!

Both bedrooms have good size en suite bathrooms, ideal for couples sharing the accommodation. Less than a 5 minute walk to shops and restaurants. Lots of good walking and interesting places to visit close by.

The newly renovated Cottage is swish & spotlessly clean. The kitchen is modern & well equipped & the cosy living room with a log burner is lovely. Our king size bedroom was marvellous & had one of the most comfortable beds ever. Although the cottage is right in the centre of Much Wenlock, just a short walk from pubs and shops. The welcome guide was really useful and had several, easy to follow walks from the doorstep which we tried out with our dog. The village pubs, The George & Dragon and The Fox Inn were very welcoming, dog friendly, and served great food at reasonable prices. A bit further afield we enjoyed Ironbridge & Shrewsbury, a visit to the Prison is recommended. Also, The Wreckin'. The views are well worth the climb. A great place for a relaxing getaway in a beautiful part of England.
