About this property

Lavender Cottage is a stunning Cotswold stone property located in the heart of the picturesque village of Stretton-on-Fosse. It makes for the perfect getaway for a family or group of friends who are seeking a relaxing break surrounded by beautiful Cotswold countryside, yet close to amenities.

Park-up on the gravel driveway and unload your luggage in through the porch area where you can store your shoes, as you enter through the front door, past the handy cloakroom, with space to hang coats with a basin and WC, before you enter into the front door directly into the kitchen/diner.

The open-plan kitchen/diner has been tastefully decorated in neutral tones and provides everything you and your group will need during your self-catering stay to rustle up delicious meals, before retreating to the wooden dining table to tuck in and pop open a bottle of bubbly to celebrate the start of your holiday.

Cleaning up is made a breeze with help from the dishwasher, so you can enter into the bright and spacious sitting room to relax for the evening; pop on a film on the DVD player and put your feet up on the welcoming sofas, as the woodburning stove keeps the room warm and toasty for you.

When night falls and the fire eases, head upstairs for some well-earned rest in one of the two homely bedrooms; the master overlooks the surrounding countryside and contains a double bed, and the second bedroom overlooks the village and countryside beyond and contains twin beds, making it perfect for children.

Make full use of the facilities and have a wonderous soak in the bath in the morning to relieve your muscles, before heading down to make a coffee using the cafetière, to be enjoyed outside in the fresh country air.

The patio garden is a lovely area to relax in, with a Rattan table, parasol and charcoal barbecue that you can make use of later on! Pretty flowers and trellises border the garden, creating a pretty and calming space.

Pick up supplies for your barbecue at Toddenham Manor Farm, which sells locally sourced produce and quality ingredients, perfect for your feast!

Stretton-on-Fosse itself has a lovely country inn, The Plough Inn, serving locally produced products and a fabulous selection across four handpumps of frequently changing cask ales, where you can cosy in front of the open inglenook fireplace and enjoy your meal and tipple.

Moreton-in-Marsh is within easy reach, hosting a wealth of shops and restaurants, where you can visit the Wellington Aviation Museum to discover a small collection of WWll memorabilia, or admire an array of eclectic and modern at The Moreton Gallery.

Head over to Chipping Campden where you will find the market town holds plenty of history for you to explore, including the National Trust Market Hall, a typical old English building offering afternoon tea and historical facts, as well as access to The Cotswold Way walking trail, a 100-mile hike through beautiful towns and villages within the Cotswolds – worth a walk along if you’re an avid walker.

Whatever the weather or time of year, a holiday at Lavender Cottage is a holiday well-spent!

The Saxon market town of Moreton-in-Marsh lies on the Fosse Way Roman Road in the northern Cotswolds and boasts many elegant 18th century buildings, which are home to traditional inns, serving real ales and home-cooked food, tea rooms, restaurants and individual shops to suit all tastes. It also boasts it's own train station and lies on the intersection of the Paddington rail line from London. The town hosts the Moreton-In-Marsh Show, one of the UK's largest one-day agricultural shows, as well as the Moreton Beer Festival, an annual French Market, and a large outdoor market every Tuesday. Many walks and cycle rides through the beautiful rolling countryside of the Cotswolds can be enjoyed from the centre of the town, with the Macmillan Way, Heart of England Way, Gloucestershire and Monarch's Way all running close by. Less than five miles away is Stow-on-the-Wold, the highest town in the Cotswolds. This ancient market town has played host to many fairs since the 12th century and today holds a biannual Gypsy Horse Fair, craft fairs and monthly farmers' market. Close by is Bourton-on-the-Water, which is known as the Venice of the Cotswolds as the River Windrush runs through the centre. It lies in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is one of the most popular Cotswold villages. Also within reach is the spa town of Cheltenham. This town boasts an incredible range of shops, cinemas, theatres, restaurants and pubs, and is famous for its horseracing festival in March, culminating in the Gold Cup steeplechase. Oxford, Stratford-upon-Avon, Bath, Worcester and the waterfront city of Gloucester are also within driving distance. A convenient base for exploring the Cotswolds and the wider area.
