About the property: Tucked away in the heart of the pretty and peaceful village of Friston, Japonica Cottage has been thoughtfully furnished, making it a lovely spot for a getaway close to the Suffolk Coast. With a king-sized double bedroom and small single bedroom, it is ideal for a romantic getaway for two or a great base for a small family to explore the area.

This sweet Suffolk cottage is a joy whatever time of year. With a log burning fire, curl up in an arm chair in winter for a cosy night in. In summer, enjoy a barbecue in the garden. 

Parking: There is off-street parking for one car.

Minimum hire: Three nights, except in high season when it's a week. Changeover is usually a Friday. No smoking please.

Pets: One small well-behaved pet is welcome.

Surrounding Area: Japonica Cottage is perfectly placed at just a short distance from many of East Suffolk's most wonderful spots - Aldeburgh, Snape (where you will find the internationally renowned Snape Maltings concert hall, home of the Snape Proms and the Aldeburgh Festival), the rspb nature reserve at Minsmere, Orford (with itscastleand the amazing landscape and history ofOrford Ness) and Southwold.

Eating & Drinking: Friday Street Farm Shopis just a few miles back up the A1094 towards the A12 (you'll probably pass it on your way to Japonica Cottage) and is a great spot to stock up on some local and seasonal goodies.

Heading the other way into Aldeburgh, you'll be positively spoilt for choice - lovely tea shops, great cafes, fine restaurants... and of course you can't go to Aldeburgh without indulging in the (world-renowned) fish and chips on the beach. There's also a lovely food shop in Snape Maltings, as well as cafe, pub and tea shop. There are a couple of other good pubs in Snape too - The Crown, famous for homegrown produce, and The Golden Key.

Self Catering: It's always good to try the local fayre andLawson's is a fantastic delicatessen in the centre of Aldeburgh - definitely worth a visit. You'll also find some great local and seasonal goodies at Friday Street Farm Shop, just a few miles along the A1094 towards the A12, and Snape Maltings hosts a regular farmers market too. 

There are both Tesco and Waitrose stores in nearby Saxmundham and two Co-ops and a Tesco Express in Aldeburgh. Alternatively, the major supermarkets will deliver to this address.
