Wander half a mile up the coast to Breakwater Beach for a spot of paddling or walk right along the half-mile breakwater for a taste of the ocean without getting your feet wet. Sandy beaches and kids’ attractions at Paignton such as the water park and zoo are an easy 6-mile trip, and there are two National Trust houses to explore within 5 miles of the house. History-lovers should head to Dartmouth which has some charming galleries, museums and buildings, as well as a 14th-century castle.
