About this property

Staple Fitzpaine is a quintessential English conservation village of cottages, almshouses, a church and a pub, set in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty at the foot of the Blackdown Hills. In the heart of the village is Sunnyside, a detached converted barn in the grounds of the owners' home, totally secluded with its own pretty, enclosed patio and garden. The lovely open plan living area has a high raftered ceiling, wooden floors and full height picture windows and patio doors which allow the sun to flood in, giving the cottage its name. The cottage has level access, wide doorways and a walk-in shower, making it a suitable choice for guests with limited mobility. In addition to the double bedroom, a sofa bed is provided in the lounge. Sunnyside, set in one and a half acres of grounds, including gardens, woodland, a summer house and stream, all of which you are welcome to use. The adjoining fields have open access enabling visitors to enjoy the wildlife, flora and fauna.

Taunton is a town that has stone and Tudor architecture, with a history stretching back over 100 years. It offers amenities with the Orchard Shopping Centre and a selection of eateries. Taunton has a choice of museums and parks. The Quantock and Blackdown Hills aonb are easily accessible, as well as the Dartmoor and Exmoor National Parks. The coast is 20 miles away, with Weston-super-Mare slightly further afield, but well worth the journey with its great range of activities.

Really pretty property in beautiful surroundings. We couldn’t fault it - except for one very small suggestion - a shelf in the bathroom (nowhere to put things). The pub next door is also very friendly and dogs are welcome, though if you want to eat - you should book. We would definitely book this cottage again and have already recommended. Thank you so much for a lovely restorative holiday. Sally & John
