Acorn Cottage in the friendly rural village of South Brewham is truly charming. This detached, spacious property is set amidst four acres of meadows and woodland and has spectacular views over adjoining country to the impressive King Alfred's Tower on the horizon. Inside the cottage is warm and welcoming; a perfect space to come back to at the end of an enjoyable day exploring Somerset's many tourist spots. All on the ground floor, the spacious living room/diner has a traditional wood burning stove. The kitchen overlooks the dining area through a smart arch and from here a bright sunny conservatory leads out to into the garden and secluded patio area, where you can sit and enjoy a leisurely breakfast or watch the sun set. Finally the cottage has a large double bedroom and an en-suite bathroom.
Bruton is in south-east Somerset. One of the smallest towns in England, it is built in the River Brue valley, between Frome, Gillingham and Wincanton, Castle Cary is also nearby. Bath and Bristol are within reach, by car or train, and attractions such as Stourhead Gardens and House are worth visiting. A lovely base for your Somerset getaway.

The property does not have any independent Internet and relies on the signal being boosted from the neighbouring detached property, detached by more than 10 metres and through two foot thick solid stone walls. The Internet never properly worked and stopped working altogether and we were forced to return home. The property was advertised with WIFI, washing machine and a coffee machine, none of which were present at the property. We have reported this to Sykes who have failed to respond and failed to resolve this between ourselves and the owners. The property has a large crack along the length of the tiles in the utility room and this is through the middle of the tiles. It's dangerous to walk on. The property has thick fluff inside the radiators and behind the bed and side cabinets, there is significant internal rising damp and mould, photossentto Sykes. This has been reported to sykes with photographs. Had the property delivered what we paid for we would have been delighted and would have rebooked it. It's completely unacceptable to advertise WIFI when the connection into the property has never been upgraded to fibre optic despite there having been fibre in the village for 10 years. I have asked for a refund of 50% as we left four days early and never had the Internet. I had no mobile signal unless stood outside in the garden.

Perhaps the owner needs to get another cleaner because there was dog hair everywhere in the house when we sat in the chairs we had long dog hair over our clothes. My husband suffers from asthma and he felt quite poorly with all the dog hair. We have a little toy poodle that doesn't moult so this was not good for my husband. I feel that it needs a really good clean every were. Lovely cottage with great views. Sorry for being so negative.

There is everything you need to have a fantastic holiday. The location is great too. The owner checked in on us twice to make sure we were ok. Would definitely recommend this cottage.
