The patio doors frame spectacular views of the river, sea and countryside; why not step out onto your private balcony at sunset to watch the boats bob along Newton Creek? As night falls, head to the bathroom and pour in the bubbles to relax in the tub, along with a shower over for quick rinses. Choose between three lovingly presented bedrooms to catch your rest, including a double, twin with truckle, and an adult-size bunk. When it's time to venture out, Newton Ferrers is a tranquil village offering a convenience store and the Dolphin Inn, a riverside pub serving traditional meals and drinks; from your doorstep, walkers can wander along the River Yealm, the harbour, the coast of South Devon AONB or through country fields for the best of both. Dartmoor National Park is also within easy reach for those who want to get away from it all in a spacious, unspoilt landscape. Alternatively, pack your towels for a day along award-winning beaches at Membury, Stoke and Mothecombe, as well as Bigbury on Sea, Burgh Island and Salcombe a little further afield. The vibrant port city of Plymouth is also a short journey away with something for the whole family to enjoy such as a theatre, cinema, sports centre, indoor and outdoor swimming, and diving pools. Main attractions include the National Marine Aquarium, the 17th-century fortress of Royal Citadel, and The Mayflower Museum. Why not take a boat tour from the harbour or visit one of the many nearby National Trust attractions? Queen Anne's historic estate, Antony, is close by as well as Mount Edgcumbe House and Country Park, and Saltram with its formal park and beach. Scantlings is sure to be a memorable getaway for the whole family.
