Guests say

The Retreat offers a tranquil and secluded escape, perfect for families and groups seeking peace and relaxation. Guests consistently praise the beautiful location, spacious and comfortable interiors, and the popular hot tub. The outdoor space and wildlife add to the charm, making it ideal for unwinding. While the access lane is steep and uneven, and there are occasional maintenance issues, the hosts are responsive and helpful. Some minor improvements could enhance the stay, but overall, visitors enjoy a restful and memorable experience in this unique cottage.

Most guests found the property clean and comfortable, though there was one instance of an unprepared cottage on arrival, which was promptly addressed by the owners. No recurring cleanliness issues were reported.

The peaceful, secluded setting is highly praised, with guests loving the privacy and natural surroundings. The only drawback is the challenging access via a steep, uneven lane, which may be difficult for low vehicles.

The cottage is described as spacious, cosy, and comfortable, with features like window shutters ensuring restful sleep. Some guests noted the lack of an upstairs toilet and steep stairs, which may be inconvenient for some.

The hot tub is a standout feature, enjoyed by all ages. Facilities are generally well-equipped, though there were occasional issues with appliances and wet room drainage. Hosts are proactive in resolving problems.

There are no mentions of welcome gifts or extra thoughtful touches in the reviews, so a score cannot be provided for this category.

Such a beautiful spot. We made full use of the hot tub, the teenagers wouldn’t get out. We loved the wider grounds with lots of dog walks looking for deer and rabbits. The birds were so loud and one kept visiting to tap on the window. It really was the most relaxing stay.

Wish it had been clear about there being no toilet upstairs for the 3 bedroomsAnd stairs too steep to negotiate in the night when half asleep Apart from that we had a very chilled stay-only 2 of us

We stayed over the Christmas period and this is our 5th stay at the retreat. We were a family of 6, 4 adults and two children, we had a wonderful time! The cottage is situated away from any other property and is perfect if you are looking for a place to switch off and reset. The hot tub is a lovely addition to the property and is great for star gazing.
