About this property

Horsehill Cottage is located in its own magical woodland setting on the edge of the pretty village of Stoke Abbot near Beaminster and can comfortably accommodate up to six guests.

Horsehill Cottage enjoys a secluded setting entirely off the road network and is ideal for families or couples looking for peace and quiet in a magical setting. There are 4 acres of private garden and nature reserve, and a further 3 acres of woodland, through which runs the Jubilee Trail footpath. The cottage has been carefully renovated using premium materials throughout such as oak, lime plaster, granite and limestone. A choice of wood burning stoves or underfloor heating means this cottage is cosy at any time of the year. A stream flows through the grounds where you will also find an oak bridge and a disused 19th Century Flax mill.

Though secluded the cottage is strategically placed:

Pub in Stoke Abbott ¼ mile

Beaminster and shops 1½ miles

Bridport and coast 6 miles

Additional Information

Travel cot and high chair available on request.

The range cooker is a fully functioning burning Aga which needs quite a lot of attention to keep running. Plenty of seasoned firewood is available.

Two well behaved dogs are welcome (small additional charge).

Please be aware this is a rural, remote property with a river running through and around the (partly enclosed) garden. Please supervise children at all times.

*Please note that internet access is offered at this property for recreational purposes only and is not meant for business use or streaming. Speed/service may vary depending on the package obtained by the owner which is provided to guests free of charge. Thank you for a wonderful stay. The cottage was cosy and well equipped for a lovely but rainy week. Enjoyed by all adults, children and dog Dre.

Lovely cottage in a peaceful spot. We have really enjoyed exploring the wild gardens, cooking burgers over a camp fire and watching the bats emerge from their roost in the cottage roof! We have enjoyed exploring Bridport and feeding the swans at Abbotsbury. So much to do in this part of Dorset!

Beautiful cottage amidst peace and tranquillity. Couldn't ask for more. My soul is restored, we will be back. So sad to be leaving. Stunning cottage and garden. Thank you for a beautiful, relaxing stay!
