Swanage is a small, family-friendly seaside resort located on the celebrated Isle of Purbeck at the eastern end of Dorset's world-famous Jurassic Coast. The town is known for its annual jazz festival in July and for its abundance of shops, good pubs, and restaurants, some of which specialise in locally caught seafood. The Victorian wooden pier is a great place to go for a stroll, try your luck at fishing, and people-watch as they prepare to dive into the water. Swanage is where the Swanage Railway, a nostalgic steam engine line, comes to an end, taking tourists on a 6-mile journey through beautiful countryside to a stop just beyond the romantic ruins of Corfe Castle. Beautiful coastal walks, the chance to see dolphins and other wildlife, and a well-stocked cafe make a day trip to nearby Durlston Country Park a wonderful option for locals and visitors alike.
