This welcoming, detached barn conversion is situated within its own enclosed garden in the grounds of a small, working livestock farm, within walking distance of the Devon village of Sheepwash. In a rural setting and with gorgeous views of grazing animals in fresh green meadows, this lovely cottage offers an escape to the countryside for a couple or young family. This charming holiday home has a friendly and cosy feel and the owners in the adjacent farmhouse provide a superb Devon welcome to their guests, as do the farm animals that visit your doorstep, which include sheep, goats and llamas. There is a spacious sitting room with a vaulted ceiling and original wooden beams, wooden floors with cosy rugs and double doors opening to the sunny patio and garden, from where you can watch the farm animals and plentiful wildlife. The sitting room also boasts a woodburning stove and a dining area, making it an ideal place to relax or dine in at any time of the year. Also on the ground floor is a double bedroom with French doors leading into the garden and a beautiful, freestanding claw foot bath, so guests can bathe in comfort in front of the TV, or gaze out at the Devonshire countryside. On the first floor is a mezzanine landing and a small twin bedroom leading off, which is a great room for children. A wonderful bonus to staying at this delightful cottage is that there is a private, grass airstrip available, so if guests have use of a helicopter or small plane, why not fly here and leave the car at home? Flying in Devon and Cornwall is a sheer delight, as the magnificent, rolling coastal farmland and high moorland scenery is largely untouched. Add to this a variety of small airfields, a large number of private farm strips and of course, the beautiful Scilly Isles, and you have all the markings for a superb flying holiday. Sheepwash village is less than a mile away, with a good pub, a shop and friendly locals. The stunning River Torridge runs close by and provides a quiet spot along its banks for some trout fishing, or a riverside walk to the village. A short drive away, the historic market town of Great Torrington and the larger towns of Bideford and Barnstaple, are easily reached, while the spectacular North Devon beaches are only a short drive away, offering surfing, miles of golden sand and fun-filled sunny days.
