About this property

Dating from 1911, Cranley House is an impressive detached Edwardian red brick house in the popular seaside resort of Teignmouth. With high ceilings, full height windows providing lots of natural light, original fireplaces (ornamental) and a feature turret, Cranley House is full of character and charm. Well loved and homely, this house is ideal for groups of family of friends seeking a beach holiday. A choice of living spaces provides ample opportunity for everyone to be together or to seek their own space for a little peace and quiet. The large sitting room is the real heart of the home; bright and spacious with comfy sofas and an electric fire for added cosiness on colder nights. The TV room is a great space to relax with a DVD or for the children to spill into and play on the Xbox whilst the adults enjoy a glass of wine in the enclosed garden or prepare a meal in the extensive and well equipped kitchen. For a more relaxed evening meal you’ll find seating for twelve in the breakfast kitchen or for a special occasion gather around the ambassador's table in the formal dining room. On the first floor you’ll find four bedrooms, three double rooms (some with sea glimpses over the rooftops) and a truckle room. Head up to the second floor, where you’ll find two further bedrooms, a double and the master bedroom with super king size bed (can be twin on request) and great sea views. These share ‘The Elves Cloakroom - with very low door height, this quirky little room can be found at the very top of the turret along with a quiet reading room/office for those wanting to get away from it all with a good book and a sea view. Outside to the rear and side of the house is a courtyard area, as well as a paved seating terrace. Steps lead down to a small lawn, with pretty flowerbeds. A short walk brings you to Teignmouth town centre and beach. The town offers a choice of supermarkets and a good range of shops, cafés, restaurants and leisure facilities. The area is ideal for those with a love of the outdoors, with sailing and watersports easily accessible, the South West Coastal Path nearby and golf at Teignmouth Golf Course. Further afield, are loads of family friendly attractions, Paignton Zoo, Living Coasts and Torquay as well as some of the best beaches in the region.

The historic, seaside town of Teignmouth is situated in South Devon on the mouth of the Teign estuary and boasts a working harbour, sandy beach, Victorian pier, sailing club, diving centre and sea activity centre. The seaward side of the town is known as ‘the Den’ and has elegant Georgian buildings, a large public area with lawns, play areas, tennis courts, a bowling green, and a miniature lighthouse. On the opposite side of Teignmouth are fishing boats and beach huts, plus views of the village of Shaldon and the hills of Dartmoor can be seen. Teignmouth also hosts folk and jazz festivals each year, whilst both the town and Shaldon hold annual carnivals and water regattas. If you decide to venture further afield, there is plenty to see and do close to Teignmouth including; the stunning Dartmoor National Park, the city of Exeter, plus the nearby harbour towns are well worth exploring.
