About this property

Shipwrights is a traditional, Edwardian terraced house with accommodation arranged over three levels, extended and fully refurbished to a high standard and offers estuary views from the garden and top floor double bedroom.

The property is an ideal base for one or two families or couples, set in a quiet location yet only a five minute walk to the centre of town, just a short walk from the boat park and Salcombe's wonderful waterfront, shops and restaurants. Enter into the hallway which leads to a small but cosy sitting room with feature fireplace and Smart Samsung TV.

Enter into the well-designed open plan kitchen/dining room with well equipped modern kitchen and dining area, perfect for socialising with family and friends. This area now has a Bluetooth enabled Roberts DAB/FM radio which can easily be paired with any Bluetooth

enabled device to allow tenants to stream their own choice of music or other media

A step from the kitchen area leads up to a light and spacious 'garden room' with a large oak dining table with chairs and a long bench, a sofa and easy chairs. From here full width folding doors open onto the good sized decking area and garden beyond. The decking area has a large outdoor dining table with eight chairs with a sun parasol. There is also a small garden area beyond the decking.

There are four bedrooms; on the first floor is a double room with King-size bed and a bunk bed room.

On the second floor (attic) level is a small twin bedroom with two single beds and a double room with a 4'6 bed.

Ah highchair, travel cot, stairgate and changing mat are available for families.

On the first floor is a family bathroom with bath, shower (over) and on the second floor is a shower room.

Salcombe is a popular destination for watersports enthusiasts, walkers and families looking for a holiday by the sea. There are several pretty beaches within a short distance, including North Sands and South Sands, plus the coves East Portlemouth on the opposite side of the estuary, just a short passenger ferry ride away. Also on your doorstep is the National Trust property Overbeck’s where you can wander through the subtropical gardens. Why not have a more adventurous day and try out the watersports available on the estuary including surfing, coasteering, kayaking or a more leisurely boat trip? Whilst staying in Salcombe, take advantage of the locally sourced seafood which is served in many of the restaurants, pubs, cafés and delicatessens. The southern tip of Devon provides some spectacular scenery and picturesque vistas with a number of sandy beaches, lovely villages with thatched cottages and some fantastic opportunities for walking on the South West Coast path.

It was very much appreciated. The property is lovely. Good location, quiet, *very* well equipped. Cosy but spacious. We would come back.

It did have a parking space but for two families the need to keep finding parking in and around Salcombe is a nightmare. Not the owners fault but I do think all the owners could feed this back to the local authority!!!! Over a period of 30 years of visiting it has become progressively worse with permit holders only and double yellow lines and a much reduced Batson car park . We will return but will be looking for more parking space at a property unless the situation improves. Big thanks though for a lovely stay!!!!

For us with a family of 6 adults and a 3 year old there was plenty of room downstairs. We loved the kitchen diner and garden were fabulous and well equipped. Things that could use improvement were; The twin bedroom at the top of the house had no storage for clothes etc which was very inconvenient and we had to use the drawers in the bunk room and wardrobe in the main bedroom in the lower floor. The rope hand rail leading up to the top floor came apart at both ends in my hand which could have been serious but luckily wasn’t is was dangerous and requires immediate attention because this has obviously happened before. There were several signs of attempts to repair with black tape. The remote controls for the TV in the living room didn’t work and on further investigation we found corroded batteries in all 3. There were new batteries provided but not the right size. It would have been really nice to have had a welcome pack containing tea, biscuits and especially milk, just to give us time before heading to the supermarket. It’s a nice touch that we have appreciated in other holiday rentals and the welcome guide needs refreshing and updating, however the laminated instruction signs placed in strategic points were very helpful. Thank you it’s a nice house.
