About this property

Dart Cottage is a charming two-bedroom home located in the picturesque village of Dittisham, Devon. Dart Cottage offers a homely abode for a Devonshire break, inviting four guests. It is only a few steps from a centre of amenities and the River Dart and enjoys elevated views of the lovely shoreline. Before heading to your new residence, park your car in a nearby public car park. The living/dining room welcomes you as soon as you enter; it has seating for four, plush sofas, a TV with a DVD player, and a lovely electric fire to light on chilly evenings. Enter the small but well-stocked kitchen, which has everything you need for a self-catered stay. As the day gives way to night, escape upstairs to two double bedrooms, both serviced by the ground-floor bathroom, with the convenience of underfloor heating. After waking up to a hot cup of coffee, head into Dittisham, where you can find a Post Office, The Anchorstone Cafe, and the Ferry Boat Inn, where you can dine out, before traversing down to Dartmouth Harbour, Dartmouth Museum, and Sugary Cove Beach. Take the ferry to Kingswear to access additional amenities or continue walking along the coast to reach the National Trust nature reserve of Little Dartmouth and the lovely Blackpool Sands beach. For thrill-seekers in your group, the Woodlands Family Theme Park is close by and suitable for all types of visitors. Before continuing on to Torquay and its core of attractions, finish your break by visiting Paignton Zoo Environmental Park, Paignton Pier, and the Broadsands Beach. From Dart Cottage, explore South Devon AONB.

Dittisham, a charming village in the South Hams situated on the banks of the River Dart and surrounded by open farmland, is a popular tourist destination. Walk till you reach the waterfront amid the peaceful alleyways surrounded with charming stone homes and lush gardens. The quayside in Dittisham is frequently thought of as the centre of the community. Lunch at the Anchorstone Café is a great way to enjoy the breath-taking river views. On the dinghy pontoon, try your hand at some crab-catching with the youngsters. Visit the FBI, as it is locally known, the famous pink Ferry Boat Inn. Reaching Greenway, the former vacation home of the legendary Agatha Christie, requires ringing the ferry bell and crossing the Dart.

It is in a good location as long as you are fit and able but it is an impossible location for anyone with any accessibility issues. The listing states that the car park is close by but absolutely fails to mention that it is at the top of a very steep hill with a very narrow road. As there is no parking at the location and car access is difficult, the car left in the car park means that a very gruelling walk is needed to get too and from the car. This is virtually impossible with luggage or for anyone with accessibility issues, but this is not made clear. If you are fit and able it is a great location but if not then I recommend you avoid this cottage. PS All my dealings with Sykes have been excellent, over a number of years, with really helpful, patient and friendly staff.
