The property rests within walking distance of the centre of Dartmouth and enjoys fantastic features including a second-floor balcony. Take a set of steps down to the front door and head into the ground floor to find a wonderful sitting room to relax in; a bay window offers a wealth of natural light and lovely views, with two sofas and an armchair to sink into, a Smart TV for a host of entertainment and a feature fireplace, with most rooms enjoying this traditional feature. Along the hall you will also find a delightful double bedroom with built-in storage, while heading upstairs to the first floor brings you to the charming twin room, family bathroom featuring both a bath and a walk-in shower, and a cloakroom too. Admire the vintage oven still set within the fireplace offering a glimpse of the property's history before heading out of the rear door and into the pretty terrace where outdoor furniture can be used for alfresco dining in the warmer weather, with the scenic backdrop of the sloping valley fields opposite. Visit the Tudor fortress of Bayard's Cove Fort built in the 16th century before heading up to Dartmouth Castle guarding the Dart Estuary since the 15th century with its imposing stance. Hire a boat from the harbour and venture out onto the water for a scenic cruise along the River Dart, or take a Greenway & Dittisham Ferry Service up to the village of Dittisham, one of the most attractive villages in South Devon. Alternatively take a ferry over to Kingswear, the village resting opposite Dartmouth on the other side of the Dart for a stroll through the area, enjoying the glorious views of Dartmouth and heading past Kingswear Castle. While you're on this side of the river, visit the National Trust's Coleton Fishacre House and explore the beautiful exotic garden, or head along the South West Coast Path up to the wonderful town of Brixham for amazing fresh seafood, Breakwater Beach and The Golden Hind replica ship which sits in the harbour. Don't miss a chance to visit the gorgeous shores of Blackpool Sands, a Blue Flag shingle beach in a sheltered bay, with great waters for swimming and watersports. This is our second stay and it seems better every time. Loved the new rubbish bin in the kitchen that opens by itself, caused many a funny moment!!! Well done 5 Fairview lovely place to stay.

We did enjoy our visit. However there were a number of things that needed addressing some of which were raised following our stay last September 2022 in the same property. The property does need some updating. RAISED LAST SEPTEMBER AND STILL NOT DONE. 1) Extractor hood not working. 2) Kitchen window handles broken, difficult to open. 3) The whole shower needs changing, very old and keeps falling off the bracket when showering. 4) No outside light to decked / garden area. 5) Child gate on stairs broken, danger of falling down stairs. CURRENT VISIT 2023 1) Washer needs service / deep clean. Washing came out stinking and then we were unable to dry anything. NEED a new washer / dryer. 2) Hoover also stinks and needs replacing. 3) Kitchen bin lid broken off and needs replacing. 4) TV has very few stations and we were unable to retune it. 5) Storage cupboard in kitchen/dining area had to be emptied out to get to the ironing board / hoover / iron etc. An old cupboard door had been dumped in there after the new dishwasher had been fitted. 6) A curtain or blind should be on the window next to the front door. Not very private when going up and down stairs. It is a big window looking onto the road. Sykes sent me a voucher whilst we were there for £40 off our next booking and it expires on 13th October. It would be better to have an open expiry date as we were not ready to book our next holiday yet!

The only comment I would make is the the steps down to the kitchen diner area are quite steep and deep treads, not for someone with mobility issues. Otherwise a fabulous house and we shall be back again.
