About this property

Resting in a tranquil seaside setting, 1 Victoria Cottages is a snug terraced cottage in the idyllic location of Lynton, Devon. With open-plan living and two bedrooms sleeping three guests, the property invites a small family or group to enjoy the sights and splendour of the north Devon coast. Park outside the property to unload your bags before leaving your vehicle in a nearby public car park. Enter into a light and airy open-plan living space with pretty décor and essential amenities for a comfortable self-catering stay; start the woodburning stove during colder months whilst you rustle up your favourite meal in the kitchen area, with dining seating for three, before curling up on the sofa to plan your holiday adventures or watch a film on the TV. A day at the beach calls for a hot shower in the ground-floor shower room to rinse off the sand, before wrapping yourself in a toasty towel fresh off the heated towel rail. Two quaint bedrooms lie upstairs offering a peaceful setting to unwind and relax after a fun-filled day; a single bed features sloped ceilings and a Velux window, whilst the double offers views across the rooftops of Lynton. This pet-friendly cottage also welcomes one small well-behaved dog, with an enclosed rear decking area to enjoy the sunshine and fresh air, or enjoy a cold glass of wine on the outdoor seating. 1 Victoria Cottages is close to Lynton's fantastic amenities, including charming coffee shops, pubs and shops to stock up on the essentials, as well as attractions found in Gunn's Gallery, a picturesque harbour and Blacklands Beach for seaside strolls and picnics. You'll also be within the fabulous Exmoor National Park renowned for dark skies for stargazing and breath-taking scenery; wildlife lovers can spot majestic red deer, the rare Exmoor pony and a variety of birdlife and rare insects. Jump in the car and head west to Ilfracombe for a historic harbour, picturesque pastel coloured cottages and the dramatic clifftop scenery. The area is scattered with sandy beaches and coves to explore, before heading into the bustling centre for an abundance of eateries, independent shops and cultural relics and curiosities at Ilfracombe Museum. Minehead lies east of 1 Victoria Cottages on the edge of Exmoor National Park and the starting point for the spectacular South West Coast Path; pack a picnic and head to Blenheim Gardens with free entertainment on offer during the summer months, wander through the busy town for quirky shops and cafés, or head to the long, family-friendly sandy beach for day of sea and sunshine. For the best of both splendid towns and diverse landscapes to wander in peace, choose 1 Victoria Cottages as your home-from-home along Devon's coast.

The shower has dirty build up on ties, there was two stains on bed sheet only one towel each for a week is not good the toilet right next to the kitchen has a big gap under the door so not good the stairs are very steep not good for children the path to and from the building is very uneven and no good for anyone with bad legs or disability I left there by Wednesday we didn’t even stay for the week I would never go there again

It is a compact size but perfectly fine for a couple or family with one child, like us. The cottage is nicely decorated and has a well equipped kitchen. There is no parking at the cottage but we bought a weekly parking permit for the local car parks which are nearby and have ample space. Lynton and Lynmouth has all the amenities that you would want with grocery shops, pubs, cafes and takeaways. It was also a good base for exploring the North Devon area. I would say that this property would not suit anyone with mobility issues as access is up a steep path and there are also steep stairs within. We felt it was good value and did the job.

The cottage is a perfect location for Lynton (shops, cafes, walks, etc). The upstairs of the cottage was so comfortable, light and airy and peaceful. There wasn't any wardrobe space upstairs, but plenty of drawer space. A few coathangers and hooks were available. The downstairs of the cottage was okay, nice cosy lounge/kitchen area. The kitchen was small but serviceable for our needs. Unfortunately, the bathroom area did let this cottage down and because of this we probably wouldn't stay here again. It had not been cleaned very well and just wasn't very nice. We did report this to the owner at the end of the week so I'm sure the cleanliness will be improved. The cottage is fairly small and I think if there were 2 adults and a teenager, it would be too small. I do think that this cottage shouldn't advertise as having a garden as there really isn't one, just a decking area. We decided not to take our dog in the end and I'm glad we didn't. There isn't a garden or outside area for your dog to go to the toilet so if you don't want an early and late toilet break for your dog, this isn't the right place for you. The wifi was very temperamental but seemed to work better upstairs in the main bedroom. We did appreciate the board games with the weather being so grim.
