Please note: There are steep steps to access the front and back of the property with one flight at the front and four flights at the rear where guests can park and collect the key; they may get discoloured after frequent rainfall, but are still safe.

The cleanliness seems to have been a light touch due to us arriving (on time at 3pm) and the cleaning still in progress. After handover we found clumps of grey hair on the dressing table and long hairs in the bath. The hoover and wet mop & bucket were stored in a cupboard opposite the bedroom and stunk so we had to move them out into the back porch and purchase a fragranced candle. The owner advised the sink was leaking in the bathroom but it took until Thursday to get this fixed then we had to leave for 24hrs for the silicone to set so Friday (1 day left) until we could use the bathroom sink. There was a small mountain of rubbish/food waste left at the front door from previous residents and this also began to smell. The owner agreed to get this collected after we raised it but this never happened meaning a week of smelly rubbish at the front door. Given the amount of steps required to access the property I would have expected as a minimum non slip paint as these became very dangerous when wet and I did actually slip down the front steps. Some quick wins to consider: A general tidy up of the front. & back stairs as has a depressing feel to it. Non slip paint on the stairs is a must Store the cleaning mop and bucket outside in the rear porch Consider a standing lamp in the corner of the lounge for a little evening ambience A shelf above the bathroom & en-suite sinks to allow you to put toothbrushes on etc. some towel rails in both rooms and a bath mat for the en-suite.

Room to park a big car. Had a little difficulty opening the back door. I didn't have the knack but the wife did. Others may struggle.

The downstairs bedrooms are spacious and have comfortable beds and good quality linen. The ensuite bathroom would benefit from a shelf for toiletries and a holder for toothbrushes and a towel rail and a soap holder in the shower. The inside of the property is clean. All the other 4 star properties weâve stayed in provide hand soap, bin bags, foil and cling film but there was only one soap in one of the bathrooms and none of the other items. It was also very unclear as to what we had to do with the rubbish as there was no bin at the back as stated in the visitor pack. The instructions for the recycling were also incorrect and we put it out on the wrong day. The main negative of the basement bedrooms is the view from the windows. Both rooms look out onto steps and these are dirty and neglected, with overgrown vegetation presenting a trip hazard on the steep steps at the back of the property. These spaces need to be cared for and painted white to counteract the lack of natural light and feeling of dinginess in these rooms. The steps both front and back do not give a good first impression of the property and the garden area bears no resemblance to the lovely garden space depicted in the photographs. Dirty windows also contribute to the feeling of dinginess. The large number of steep steps to the rear of the property, and the steps down to the front of the property, make it unsuitable for those with mobility problems or young children. Parking at the rear of the property is excellent but was difficult to find, especially as we arrived in the dark, and a clear number 11 needs to be visible from the road. I am sure that when I booked, it advertised a washer and drier but there is no drier in the property. This is essential when there is only one bath towel and one hand towel per person, with no hand towel and only one teatowel in the kitchen, and there is no outside space to dry washing. There was an airer but towels take too long to dry on this. A few minor adjustments as mentioned above, a tumble drier and clean and cared for outside spaces would make this property and excellent holiday let.
