About this property

A renovated traditional cottage settled into the village of Uplyme, on the outskirts of Lyme Regis, offers a great base for exploring Dorset. Family-friendly and a short drive to a multitude of beaches, 2 Lilac Cottages is perfect for families or couples wishing to explore the wonders of the Jurassic coast. Upon entering this quaint property, a welcome hamper greets you upon arrival, where you will be drawn to the spacious sitting area, a great spot to relax and plan your day as the woodburning stove warms your feet and note also the theme of purple is continued from the front door, adding a pop of colour. When mealtimes call, a spacious kitchen/diner will supply you with plentiful amenities to fulfil your self-catering needs, and a beautiful contemporary kitchen with cream wooden furniture and sage tiles, and you will be able to present your masterpiece on the central dining table. As the evening wears on, find yourself in one of two bedrooms, both decorated in a pale and calming sea blue and with ample storage for your belongings, including a king-size and a twin room, and there is the option of a refreshing shower or a soak in the bath before you begin your days adventure. Outside, a beautiful garden with a spacious lawn and boarder of colourful shrubs creates the perfect spot for a picnic, whilst there is a gravel area with steps leading up to a raised seating area on a lawn, the perfect place for morning coffee.

The village of Uplyme offers a local pub and post office, as well as easy access to the larger town of Lyme Regis, where you will find a greater variety of eateries and shops, as well as harbour walks. From this property you will be a convenient drive away from sites such as the historic Cannington Viaduct and The Tunnel Tree Tops adventure course in Charmouth, and you can also enjoy a walk through the countryside at Musbury Castle. The Jurassic coast is only a short drive away, meaning that you will have easy access to a selection of sandy and pebble beaches, as well as the famous Lyme Regis Fossil Beach where you can search for treasures amongst the rocks. With a quaint town situated in a convenient spot, you will be spoilt for choice of activities with a stay at the historic 2 Lilac Cottages.

The beautiful countryside surrounding the village of Uplyme, on the borders of Devon and Dorset, is a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, criss-crossed by bridleways and footpaths including the East Devon Way, and providing perfect country walks and superb views. The area was chosen by TV chef Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall for his River Cottage HQ at Park Farm, where you can treat yourself to a great meal. Just a short drive takes you to the stunning Jurassic Coast at Lyme Regis. This delightful historic seaside town boasts a maze of narrow streets, with an interesting array of shops and cafes, whilst the sandy beach lends itself to great bathing and watersports, and the bustling little harbour offers regular fishing trips, or try your hand at fossil hunting. Within an easy drive is the quaint town of Axminster, or how about a ride on the Seaton Tramway? A glorious location for a varied and interesting holiday.

Although not in the listing, the information in the cottage stated there was a new gas bbq, but there was no bbq there. The only other minor issue was that the shaver socket in the bathroom was no where near the mirror. I would have given this cottage 5 stars, which it really should deserve, other than these minor issues. It didn't actually spoil the holiday
