Deep in leafy lanes 3½ miles from Honiton, tucked away at the end of a private tree-lined drive is The Old Log Shed. This striking cottage has been smartly converted from stables on this former farmstead. Two pairs of bi-fold doors bring the outside in and fill the cottage with light. The living space comprises a snug living room with a wood burning stove and a neat kitchen with granite worktops and dining area. On the first floor are two pretty bedrooms with lovely garden views a double, and a twin. Outside you have your own enclosed garden with a large level lawn, croquet and a swing, and a sun trap terrace with table, chairs and a barbecue. You are also welcome to use the owners all-weather tennis court. Why not head into Honiton and browse the antique shops or use the leisure centre and other town amenities. For outdoor activity, walk the Blackdown Hills and the River Otter valley, fish in the river or head to the seaside at Sidmouth. Exeter has cathedral city facilities aplenty. Smart, stylish and peaceful, this is a great base for exploring east Devon.

Jane, the owner, was very welcoming. She provided us with a lovely sponge cake, so thanks again Jane. The location is very quiet, which is what we like. Peace and quiet.

The result? Nothing else needed. A pity there are no footpaths to walk "from the door" but there are many excellent scenic walks within 4/5 miles and the coast is only 30 mins or so, away Loved Lyme Regis, Seaton, Sidmouth, Beer (particularly there Caves) Shall we return ? - Yes.

Very helpful owner, even helping with our Tesco order when we were stuck in traffic! Could not establish why we had such a problem with flies in the property, even when there was no food out or other such items to attract them. Altogether, aside from the flies, we had a superb break.
