Waste is efficiently managed through composting, complemented by two beehives in the vegetable garden. Natural cleaning products further contribute to the property’s sustainability.
The Retreat comprises two thoughtfully designed bedrooms catering to diverse needs. The master bedroom boasts an en-suite wet room, balcony doors opening to a decked area overlooking the valley, and ample storage. The twin bedded room features an en-suite shower room. Both bathrooms include various accessible features, such as wall-mounted shower seats and commode shower seats on wheels. Hoists and articulating beds are available for hire if needed. A lovely week spent in this beautiful accommodation, the location is perfect.Rosemary was such a wonderful host. On arrival, we were met with a plate of fresh, homemade scones with jam and cream. Just what we needed after a long journey!The location offers good access to the nearby coastal beaches and towns, which have a variety of places to eat and drink.Set at the end of a mile long track (might be a bit tricky for low cars), the Retreat was lovely and quiet, just the sounds of nature.The cottage is spacious and well equipped and had everything we needed. There has obviously been a great deal of thought gone in to making it suitable for anyone with mobility issues. However, I found the floors to be quite slippy, especially the shower room. I have partial mobility and required my wife to support me when walking to and from the shower area, also when trying to get off the loo, we ended up use a foot mat to get some grip. The furniture is very low, but there was a rising/reclining chair which really helped me.The lodge is very spacious, and provided a bright, light-filled place with wide doorways, no clutter, and a feeling of space - all on one level.My wife said that the walks through the woods with the dog were brilliant. We would love to return, (with rubber mats for grip), and highly recommend The Retreat.
