It’s just four minutes’ stroll to the beach and one minute from the main street with a good range of local shops, pubs and eateries. The cottage offers superb accommodation for six, is well equipped, centrally heated and has a lovely garden that gets the sun most of the day. It is well located to explore the myriad of local attractions. On entering through the hall there are coat hooks, spaces for shoes, buckets and spades for those beach days. The sitting room has village views and large sofas to sink into around the fireplace, with a gas fire and a 45-inch Smart TV (bring your log in details for Netflix). The kitchen/dining area is extremely well equipped with everything you need during your stay. The pine table and chairs seat six. There’s a separate cloakroom with toilet, basin and shaver point. Upstairs the bathroom has a shower over the bath; there are three bedrooms, two with double beds, and one with twin beds and TV. The garden is private and has wonderful views over the village to the hills and gets the sun from mid-morning till it sets in the evening, making it the perfect venue to sip a drink after a day on the beach. The garden is hedged, fenced and gated so is great for dogs. It has a patio area with garden furniture and parasol, and a lawn with planted borders.

Beer is a picture postcard fishing village with a gurgling stream dancing along the main street to the beach. It is snuggled in the rolling hills in East Devon’s beautiful coastal scenery and drips nostalgia. The horseshoe beach is the heart of the village, a natural sun trap surrounded by glistening white cliffs. It has clean waters, rock pools to explore at low tide, beach huts to hire, and beach cafés serving hearty breakfasts and homemade treats. The cliffs form part of the South Devon coastal footpath and this area of the Jurassic coast is a World Heritage Site due to the important fossils found here. Beer is famous for its lace, stone and smuggling and is an ideal resort for families, couples and friends getting together. Enjoy the beach cafés, a fishing trip, a stroll along the coastal footpaths or a Devon cream tea! Visit Pecorama, the Beer Quarry Caves or the Regency towns of Lyme Regis or Sidmouth. The city of Exeter is just a 40-minute drive.

We arrived for a weeks break, the lounge was ok, apart from spiders on webs in the corner ceilings & another in the fire place, also several woodlice on the carpet. However, heading into the kitchen, it was clear this needed attention. Food spattered up the rusty radiator & around the edge of the dining table. There is rust/stains inside the microwave & the kettle should be replaced as such a build up of scale. The whole kitchen looked & felt like it needed a good clean. The toilet door & cleaning cupboard door are filthy & need a really good wash down. Going upstairs it became clear, the house was in need of a deep clean. The carpets need hoovering, the skirting boards in all rooms are dirty with dust & grim and paint is peeling off some walls. The light shade in the smaller double bedroom ceiling was thick with old cobwebs & dust. The bedding appeared clean, however the valances on all of the beds are stained & are in desperate need of a boil wash. The spare pillows in the wardrobe are stained so can’t be used either. The corners of the bathroom especially behind the toilet are very grimy. The bath is marked & mould around bottom of the tiles, there was also dried toothpaste in the basin. The grass in the garden is overgrown & needed cutting. We have two dogs & one is small so it’s important the grass is cut. (We arrived on Saturday & the grass was trimmed on the Tuesday)I have spoken to the Owner on two occasions but she has told me she has done all she can in a rather sarcastic manner. She did send her cleaner out Saturday afternoon to clean to ‘our standards’, but unfortunately the house was still dirty. We decided to clean the property ourselves as we did not want to spoil our holiday. No cleaning products available - a dirty mop, a window spray, cheap general spray and an empty bottle of bleach. The owner said the cleaning products were kept in a locked cupboard. The gas certificate in the information pack is out of date, it says it was last serviced in 2024. We are also unhappy with the property description. We had brought elderly parents with us, there is no mention of steep steps leading to the garden, a tight staircase in the house with a further 2 steps to the double bedrooms. It also says it’s a 4 or so minutes walk to the town, which is correct, but no mention that it is not on a level walk but a long steep hill into town which is not achievable by our elderly parents who are in their mid 80s - the owners reply to this was that we had not made her aware we were bringing elderly parents!Thankfully we had a glorious week with the weather, so spent as little time in the cottage as possible. We had really been looking forward to our holiday but the state of the house was such a disappointment. We have stayed in older properties on many occasions but they have always been clean & welcoming. We took lots of photos in the house but can’t upload them for the review.

Great cottage, very comfy and homely, spacious with great views of Beer and close to Town Centre. Location is just 5 minutes walk from the Town Centre and Sea Front....Cottage very cosy and spacious and has all you need for your stay. Parking is a small isue as you have to wait to unload in the spaces opposite (2 hours wait time) as you cannot park on the road anywhere but it was ok for us....Hill down to town and Sea Front is very steep so people with difficulties will have to take their time as cars will always be parked in the Town Centre away from the Cottage.

Great location and really lovely laid out cottage. All bedrooms were a good size and kitchen well equipped. The garden is perfect for dogs but it is not directly opposite the cottage - so you need to accompany your dog. Take a torch for the path at night. Would book again.
