About this property

Truro 2.7 miles. Nestled in the village of Malpas near Truro, Cornwall, is this delightful former fisherman’s cottage, Waterside Cottage. Enjoying a superb location next to the popular Heron Inn pub with spectacular views looking out across the Tresillian River, Waterside Cottage is a fantastic pet-friendly choice for a couple and their canine companion. Be greeted by a lovely front terrace, where you can enjoy a romantic meal for two whilst soaking up the exceptional river views. Step into the inviting living/dining room, where you can look forward to evening’s spent snuggled up in front of your favourite film as the woodburning stove crackles nearby. Move through to the well-equipped kitchen, where you can rustle up tasty dishes to savour at the dining table for two over a celebratory bottle of fizz. Follow the stairs up to the first floor, where you will find a spacious Master bedroom, with a king-size bed where you can wake up to the spectacular river views. There is a small study, perfect for those wanting to check in on work whilst away and a well-appointed bathroom where you can unwind with a soak in the bath or refreshing shower. On those evenings when you don’t feel like cooking, head next door to the renowned gastropub of Heron Inn, where you can tuck-into tasty meals and sample local ales in a tranquil riverside setting. Stumble out the front door and take a short walk down the hill towards the slipway where overlooking Malpas Marina there is a well stocked Farm shop selling local Cornish produce and a Cafe for that morning Coffee. Take a peaceful walk along the estuary towards the picturesque village of St Clements and onto Tressillian, within this protected area of outstanding natural beauty you will hear birdsong and perhaps, if you’re lucky, even spot a heron or kingfisher, seal or even dolphins! For a wider selection of amenities, head into the thriving city of Truro, where you will find a magnificent cathedral, the beautiful Victoria Gardens, excellent golf club and the Enchanted Trail, along with a wealth of pubs and restaurants, including fine dining at Tabb’s or the infamous “Hooked” seafood restaurant. Trelissick Gardens, a National Trust property is a short scenic drive away and is not to be missed during any season. Cross over the water on the King Harry Ferry to the Roseland peninsula and venture over to Porthscatho Beach where you will find the "Hidden Hut" - a fantastic beach side pop up restaurant serving delicious food to enjoy while overlooking the beautiful coastline. The rugged North Cornish Coast is near Waterside Cottage as is St Agnes, a popular destination with dramatic coastline and a good selection of bars and restaurants where you can find live music and other entertainment. “Schooners" is perched on the side of the cliff and perfect for a sunset drink! Be sure to visit Falmouth, home to the National Maritime Museum, Pendennis Castle, and a plethora of beautiful beaches. All this and more awaits at Waterside Cottage.

Truro has a wide variety of retailers, both locally owned and those from larger chains, all within walking distance of each other in a relatively tight downtown area, making it Cornwall's primary shopping destination. This little city is a fantastic vacation spot at any time of the year because to its wide variety of museums, galleries, restaurants, bars, and the theatre. Historical and architectural attractions abound in this vibrant city. Simply taking a stroll down one of Georgia's historic cobblestone streets is a treat. The city's many quiet parks are just a short walk from the heart, making it a great destination for those looking to unwind. Day trips along the Fal estuary between Truro and Falmouth are really enjoyable, and there are numerous places to get off the boat and back on again as you travel down the river.
