About this property

Splits is a striking, detached property, set over five levels with reversed accommodation, to take advantage of the magnificent views across the mouth of the Camel estuary and Atlantic beyond. Accessed via a pretty, unmade lane, with coastal footpaths nearby leading down to Greenaway and Daymer Bay, Splits can accommodate ten guests over five bedrooms, making it ideal for an extended family getaway to Cornwall. There is a large, sunny front lawn and ample parking, and a private balcony, perfect for enjoying family meals from, with uninterrupted views of the stunning sunsets. The well-appointed bedrooms and five bathrooms make Splits a luxurious place to stay on the North Cornwall coast, whilst the living areas all benefit from lots of glass windows and sensational, sea views. On cooler days there are plenty of plush sofas to curl up with a book in front of a roaring fire, whilst hours can be spent just watching the tides and ever-changing seascape outside the windows, while children and teenagers can lounge in front of the TV in the family room. From your vantage point above the Camel estuary, you can plan your days to include walks direct from your doorstep, or hop in the car to nearby Polzeath for an afternoon of surfing. A drive in the opposite direction will bring you to Rock with all its sailing, boat trips and waterskiing, and for those who prefer not to get wet, the fabulous St Enodoc golf course. The Black Tor ferry runs regularly across the estuary to Padstow, which is host to Rick Stein's famous seafood restaurant, and a wide selection of waterfront shops and eateries. The thriving market town of Wadebridge is only a 6-mile drive away, perfect for shopping and for hiring bicycles to explore the Camel trail. All of this can be experienced with a stay at Splits.

Daymer Bay and the village of Trebetherick were both loved by Sir John Betjeman and are unquestionably special. With a huge appeal to both the young and not so young, Daymer Bay has recently been voted one of the best beaches in the world! St. Enodoc Church, once buried in the sand, is within comfortable walking distance of Daymer Bay and is the resting place of Sir John Betjeman. Daymer Bay holds great appeal for wind surfers with the waves rolling up the estuary. There is enormous fun too for small children with buckets and spades and fishing in the rock pools. Up from the coast path as it runs from Daymer Bay is Highcliffe, nestling between Polzeath and Trebetherick, both of which boast a number of pubs, restaurants and village stores all offering a wide variety of fresh quality produce. The properties at Highcliffe have the advantage of being within easy reach of Daymer, Polzeath and Greenaway - Greenaway being the name given to the clifftop area, beach and small cove with rock pools overlooking the Atlantic beyond that lies between Daymer and Polzeath.

The boiler kept cutting out and needing reigniting. I reported it but I don’t think anyone attended or remedied the fault

Description bed sizes not correct bunk beds double - matters when have to provide own linen. A shame had to provide own linen and we had two weeks and had to have a change over which was inconvenient. Clearer information re refuse and recycling be welcome too. Having said that the property was truly a home from home but in the most spectacular location and would definitely re book if can get a free slot! John Bray know all the local properties in this area and are a pleasure to deal with such a shame they have handed over to Sykes who are clueless and too large.

We had to dash back to Atlantic Laundry to change the undersheets so they fitted. They were very nice about it. Otherwise all perfect.
