Mermaid Cottage is a traditional, stone fisherman’s cottage located just above Port Isaac’s old harbour, on picturesque Rose Hill. Ideal for family holidays to North Cornwall, this homely cottage offers valley views, a warming woodburning stove and an enclosed patio for your four-legged friend to enjoy.

As you arrive at Mermaid Cottage you are immediately greeted by a wonderful slate floored entrance hall, complete with a woodburning stove and seating. To the left of the entrance hall is a relaxing sitting room with comfortable sofas to seat the whole family, perfect for winding down with a book or playing your favourite holiday games. Head on through the property to the homely dining room, where you can indulge in a delicious afternoon tea, or venture on to the well-equipped kitchen, the perfect place to prepare a family feast with fresh Cornish produce.

From the entrance hall, stairs lead up to the first floor landing, where you will find three bedrooms and a shared bathroom – all of which are comfortably furnished for a restful night’s sleep. The master bedroom has been romantically decorated with floral décor, and there is a small curtain that separates the basin from the King-size double bed. A second room features a double bed, and the third bedroom boasts twin beds, whilst the shared family bathroom has a bath, shower, WC and basin.

Outside, a sunny, enclosed paved patio boasts a picnic bench for informal dining – why not pick up some takeaway fish and chips from the harbour, and bring back to enjoy in this peaceful, sunny spot?

Fabulous walks are available from the cottage, offering stunning views of Port Isaac’s most famed places, including the filming locations of Doc Martin and Fisherman’s Friends. The historic harbour is located just a 10-minute walk away, and at low tide it reveals a sheltered dog friendly beach, plus there’s a variety of surrounding shops and eateries.

Nearby, there is allocated parking for one car, so you can enjoy day trips during your stay to beaches slightly further afield. Dog friendly Daymer Bay is just shy of 8 miles away and offers rock pools and shallow waters, as well as access towards Rock and Polzeath via the coast path.

Mermaid Cottage is a practical holiday home, located in the heart of Port Isaac, offering a traditional base from which to explore North Cornwall, come rain or shine.

A beautiful fishing village nestling in a steep sided valley, the old village in the valley remains unchanged from its days of fishing, slate export and smuggling in the previous century. An abundance of small character properties complemented by larger cliff-top retreats, can be found with easy access to the numerous restaurants and shops of the village. The sandy harbour provides an abundance of rock pools as the tide retreats. Only ten minutes drive from the beaches of Polzeath, Daymer and Rock, it is perfect for romantic and family holidays alike. There is ample parking at the top of the village.
