The house itself is an old building but that doesn’t mean the inside should feel the same. The entrance to the house is through the utility room that has some strange red coloured stain that has occurred on the flooring. Then you enter the kitchen which is like a step back in time with old wooden cupboards that are loose and very dated furniture/table. There was a lovely welcome pack of t bags jam and a fresh loaf which was great. I did sweep the kitchen to find black dog hairs so obviously the cleaners need a nudge to improve things. The house generally was very dated which was a great shame as the place just has the feel of a lack of care. The bathroom upstairs was impossible for me to shower in as the sloping ceiling made it impossible to stand up and I’m 5ft11 so no giant the only way to complete this task is to kneel in the bath. The first night I got into bed in the front room and instead of that nice fresh sheet smell all I could smell was stale urine. On sniffing the mattress yes you’ve guessed it a potent pong of old wee. Fortunately we had not anticipated on using all 4 bedrooms so shut the door on that one and used another. This was unacceptable to not check mattresses from my perspective and it really started our week break off badly. This place could be lovely but is in need of a serious revamp to bring it up to an adequate standard and checks in place to ensure my experience in snuggling up in a stinking wee bed will never happen again. The owner was contacted and I did receive £100 back but in reality an experience I’d rather not have had.

Games room is excellent for the kids. The house is lovely, however it needs some updates to the furniture. The living room chairs were uncomfortable. That aside thank you we had a great time. Extra thanks to the owners who rescued us on day 1 when one of our kids broke a key in a lock.

We initially had a slight issue finding the house as the sat-nav took us past the house and in a road behind it. Because the house is set back slightly it was easily missed. When we arrived it was very nice to find milk, bread, tea & coffee and scones with jam and clotted cream. That was a very nice touch and really appreciated. Everything was clean and tidy. We enjoyed the games room in the evenings and the kitchen was functional and had everything we needed. Beds were comforatable and we had a very relaxing break. The property is a great base to explore Cornwall.
