When the sky darkens, travel back inside to wash off the day in the shower room before resting up ready for tomorrow’s adventure in the double or twin room. Those looking to breathe in the sea can head to Newquay which is just a short drive away, spend the day on the open water with like-minded surfers at Fistral Beach, Towan Beach and Bedruthan Steps. If you’d prefer to stay inland, The Japanese Garden, housing a myriad of breath-taking gardens inspired by the east or the educational Eden Project with its tropical biomes are both only down the road. Mawgan Porth is a secluded cove on the north Cornish coast between Newquay and Padstow, known for its golden sand beach, excellent surfing, and proximity to several caves and a coastal path. Take a relaxing stroll along the cliffs as the sun shines down, learn to surf, or keep an eye on the waves below. Mawgan Porth is filled with excellent dining options, including Paul Ainsworth's No. 6 and Rick Stein's Seafood Restaurant, and the adults-only Scarlet Hotel, which offers Spa services to visitors but not guests. Tennis courts, a pitch and putt, and an 18-hole golf course overlook the Atlantic Ocean in Mawgan Porth, which also features a small selection of shops, including a village store and deli and a farm shop selling meat, eggs, vegetables, bread, and pasties made from local ingredients.
