About this property

Fairlight View is a superb, newly furnished apartment resting on the beachfront in Sandgate. Set over two floors, with amazing sea views, Fairlight View is a well-situated setting for discovering Kent, within easy reach of Folkestone and Dover. You enter the apartment at the first-floor of the building, then climbing half a set of stairs, there is the first bathroom, before finishing the stairs to the lower floor of the apartment, where you will find a contemporary kitchen/diner, the perfect space to rustle up an evening meal to enjoy round the dining table, as you talk about your day by the coast. Moving through to the sitting room, there is a large bay window with immaculate views out to sea where the lights of France can be seen in the evening. A television is located next to a feature fireplace making for an ideal place to relax, there is also an adjoining bedroom with a quirky trundle bed that also doubles as a great reading spot to enjoy the sea views. Climbing to the second floor of the apartment, you will find a storage room, a king-size room with more sea views and a further twin room which make for great places to escape to whilst you rejuvenate for another busy day. There is also a spacious bathroom with a bath with shower head and a walk-in shower, so choose how to freshen up for the day ahead in your own style, whether that be a long soak in the bath or a shower. Outside you can find unrestricted, roadside parking at the front of the property, on a first-come, first-serve basis. Sandgate is a small village on the south coast, between Hythe and Folkestone, boasting a 16th century castle which is now a Grade I listed private residency, as well as shops, bars, eateries, many of which look out over the esplanade. Sandgate has a fairly long stretch of beach, great for picnics, a barbecue with fresh seafood, walks and also for watersports enthusiasts to get their thrill of adventure. A short drive, or a lovely walk along the beach, takes you into Folkestone which is home to a wonderful harbour, surrounded my bars and eateries.Slightly further, you can reach the historical town of Dover, which is home to the international ferry port, so if you fancy a quick trip to grab some cheese and wine, it can connect you to a glorious day out in France, in just under an hour. Also in Dover, there is a unique 18th century triple spiral stair case known as The Grand Shaft, Dover Castle and medieval tunnels which now offer tours, museums and galleries, a bustling marina and pier, and an English Heritage Roman Lighthouse. A short distance from Dover lies St. Margaret’s Bay where a coastal walk provides you breath-taking views of the white cliffs and the English Channel. Take in the quint coastal village that was once home to Ian Flemming (James Bond creator) and Noel Coward, and enjoy a coffee at the lighthouse while watching the ferries arriving from the continent. Also nearby Fairlight View is Port Lympne Nature Reserve, the Dymchurch miniature railway connecting Hythe with the surreal landscape of Dungeness and the Kent Down Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty which makes for great walking and cycling adventures through some scenic trails. 103 Martello Towers were built in the 19th century as small defensive forts, and with 27 of them lining the coast of Kent, the place is full of history and you can still visit 16 which still remain, starting with five in Folkestone, four in Sandgate and following through Hythe and Dymchurch. For a historical and action packed trip to Kent, choose Fairlight View as your beachfront base.

Sandgate is a coastal village with quaint shops, cafes, bars, eateries, a castle, a theatre and a beach. For those looking for something more energetic, there are a variety of watersports to enjoy. If you still have the wanderlust for more adventures, take the ferry or train and in less than an hour you can be in France, enjoying some wine.

It was very comfortable, light and airy. The whole house was well decorated and fitted out even including extras like washing up liquid etc. The range and quality of glasses and crockery was impressive and the whole apartment felt of good quality. I would love to stay there again and would definitely recommend it. Thanks.

The welcome pack was a lovely touch. It was a shame that the communal entrance to the building was unwelcoming with creaking stairs all the way up and in the apartment. The lower bathroom had no shower curtain so we could not use the handheld shower over the bath without flooding and damaging the bathroom. All 5 adults and 1 child ended up using the upper floor bathroom shower. The lock in this bathroom did not work. The trundle bed was more suitable for children than adults. On bin collection day (Wednesday) we had to put the wheely bins and recycling box onto the pavement by 7 am and then take them back after they were emptied. (Even then the recycling box was not completely emptied - only our stuff which were in bags were taken).
