Although today it is a fairly quiet town, it is steeped with a turbulent history, including the tale of Julius Caesar first landing on Walmer beach and Henry viii ordering the building of the castle, after fearing invasion. Situated on the coast, Walmer is closely associated with the neighbour town of Deal, sharing a thriving high street and some amenities. Within the town itself, you will find a wealth of pubs, restaurants, shops and a number of attractions to explore. Such attractions include visiting the wonderful Walmer Castle and its spectacular gardens. From here, you can explore the famous White Cliffs of Dover and miles of Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty on your doorstep.
