Lavender Cottage is a three-bedroom, end-of-terrace property based in the market town of Hailsham, East Sussex. Featuring a beautifully maintained rear garden and a traditional interior, this pet-friendly retreat is a fantastic choice for families or couples looking to spend some time in this part of Sussex. You'll find private driveway parking for two cars on arrival and space for coats by the front door. On entering the cottage, the enclosed front porch, displaying plenty of local attractions and things to do, leads to a large kitchen, fully equipped with all the essentials, perfect for whipping up tasty meals for the family. There's a breakfast bar for two and a feature stable door leading to outside as well as plenty of natural light flooding in from the skylight. The adjacent dining room offers a great space for family dinner parties with an electric flame effect fire for cosy winter evenings. A comfortable sitting room is just a few steps away overlooking the pet-friendly garden. Make yourself at home relaxing on soft sofas while watching your favourite TV shows or re-charging your batteries, after a days exploring, enjoying the garden view through the wide patio doors. Upstairs, rooms are colour themed and beds have cotton linen; choose between two king bedrooms, one overlooking the garden, and a single bedroom. The highlight of the property is the beautiful fully enclosed garden, safe for children and dogs to play in; directly from the lounge there is an sun awning above the patio doors reaching across the terrace and a seat for two with an umbrella, just right for enjoying a morning coffee. Head out to one of the local rural villages where you can wine and dine at a number of excellent pubs and restaurants, or in to the centre of town to pick up your favourite ingredients from three popular supermarkets and create a feast of your own.
The local countryside has plenty of charming tea rooms, award winning rural micro breweries and impressive vineyards to sample on your stay too. For an unbeatable day out, head to Eastbourne, nestled at the foot of the South Downs National Park and famous ‘Seven Sisters’, and soak up the atmosphere in its vibrant 3 mile long promenade, picturesque beach and iconic Victorian pier. Just down the coast you’ll find the historic town of Hastings, where you can delve into the fascinating history of 1066 Battle of Hastings with a visit to the Battlefield and Abbey, or take a stroll along it's bustling high street. Head west along the coast recognised for it's stunning scenery including Beachy Head, Birling Gap and Cuckmere Haven and you'll arrive at the seaside town of Seaford, quietly nestled under the chalk landmark of Seaford Head.
And if you fancy leaving the car behind, why not catch the bus just outside Lavender Cottage to Brighton for an exciting day trip? There's plenty to see and do there such as the Lanes, Royal Pavilion and Brighton i360.
For a cultural experience Charleston Farmhouse, well known for its connections with the Bloomsbury Group, offers an historic house and gardens and a cafe serving light refreshments.
Glyndebourne opera house renowned for the Glyndebourne Festival held each summer is nearby. From outdoor activities to history and culture, Lavender Cottage, gives you the perfect base to explore all that Sussex has to offer.
The market town of Hailsham is settled in a picturesque part of East Sussex. This location is particularly popular due to the famous Cuckoo Trail host to an array of flora and fauna. An interesting 14 mile surfaced trail for walkers and cyclists, mainly traffic free, through the beautiful countryside along the old railway line linking Heathfield, Horam, Hailsham, Polegate and Hampden Park. There are benches, picnic tables and sculptures to look out for and lots of opportunities to pick up refreshments a short distance from the route.
The quaint village of Alfriston boasts chocolate-box-pretty pubs, boutique shops, medieval buildings and glorious countryside views. Take a stroll along the banks of the Cuckmere River while you're here. Closer to home you can explore 800 years of Sussex history at Michelham Priory and gardens, Abbots Wood nearby provides excellent walking routes and Wellshurst Golf Club is popular with golfers. If travelling with children, be sure to pay a visit to Knockhatch Adventure Park and meet the family of owls and farmyard animals. Hailsham is an ideal centrally located place to discover the many attractions in East Sussex.
