A haven of seaside peace for the family in the heart of ‘1066 Country’. Rye and Hastings are within easy reach and the famous shingle fields of Winchelsea Beach are within walking distance.

Cuckoos is a well-loved spacious single storey cottage on a quiet residential road, next to a placid stream where ducks will welcome new arrivals! We love the sheltered enclosed garden at the rear, which is a real suntrap and backs onto Rye Harbour Nature Reserve where an abundance of wildlife can be seen and heard. There’s side access from the kitchen to the rear garden with a sheltered patio, wooden garden furniture and pergola. The lawned front garden is also large, peaceful and spacious and even has its own Wendy house, overlooked from the sitting room to keep an eye on younger children!

The interior layout of the holiday rental is easy and comfortable, with a large lounge/dining area and overhead fans for hot summer evenings; a lovely space to relax and enjoy a meal after a busy day sightseeing or at the beach. There are plenty of books, DVDs and WiFi to keep you occupied and every room is well decorated and furnished. There are 2 bathrooms and 4 bedrooms.

The house accepts well-behaved dogs and is a great base for walkers and cyclists with its easy access to coastal paths, woodland walks and nature reserves.

The house is within 600m as the crow flies of Winchelsea Beach’s pebble bank, often clad with brilliant wild flowers, at high tide and at low tide extensive flat sands are revealed - plenty to do and see for everyone, especially the kids. It’s just 20 minutes across the fields to walk to mysterious Camber Castle and its nearby bird hide.

Locally, there’s a Co-op store open every day which is just 8 minutes’ walk; the local pub is even nearer and has its own deli and butcher. Winchelsea and Romney Marsh is a real ‘foodie’ area with excellent local produce, fresh fish, farm shops, delis and good eating in pubs.
