Beyond the village, the market town of Rye is well worth a visit with its selection of independent shops and cafes, while the nearby vineyards make for a great day out, and why not enjoy a trip on the Kent & Sussex Steam Railway to Tenterden. Battle, another pretty market town is close by, as is the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, which boasts an abundance of beautiful walks and scenery. This is a fantastic base from which to explore the Kent and East Sussex coastline, with the seaside town of Hastings with its award wining beach and pier only nine miles away.
