Guests say

Willows View in Etchingham is highly praised for its peaceful setting, cleanliness, and well-equipped, cosy accommodation. Guests consistently mention the welcoming and helpful host, Adam, and appreciate the thoughtful touches throughout the property. The cottage is ideally situated for exploring East Sussex, with scenic walks and attractions nearby. While most reviews are overwhelmingly positive, a few guests noted minor issues with the comfort of the sofa bed and the need for outdoor maintenance. Overall, the property offers a relaxing retreat, perfect for couples or solo travellers seeking tranquillity and easy access to local sights.

Cleanliness is frequently highlighted, with guests describing the property as spotless, fresh, and very well presented. Only one review mentioned outdoor algae on the staircase, but this was a rare exception.

The location is widely appreciated for its tranquillity, countryside views, and proximity to walking trails, National Trust sites, and the train station. Some guests noted the lack of shops and pubs in the immediate village, but overall found the setting ideal for exploring the area.

Most guests found the accommodation extremely comfortable, with special mention of the bed and peaceful atmosphere. However, a few reviews mentioned discomfort with the sofa bed for evening relaxation, which slightly lowers the score.

Facilities are highly rated, with guests noting the well-equipped kitchen, modern appliances, and thoughtful layout. The property is described as having everything needed for a short or extended stay. Minor feedback included the lack of a garden for dogs.

Guests frequently mention thoughtful touches such as welcome baskets, toiletries, and helpful local information. While many appreciated these gestures, it should be noted that such gifts are not guaranteed for every stay.

The studio apartment was spotlessly clean. Comfortable bed and fully equipped kitchen. There was also a sofa bed which served as a sofa - to be honest I would have preferred a sofa as sofa bed not comfortable for relaxing to read or watch TV. No garden so you have to walk your dog about 50 metres to the big churchyard area. There was no shop in the village and local shop about 2 miles away. Tesco, Waitrose half hour drive. No local pub. Again, pubs about 2 miles awayLovely area and great walks if you are into hiking. Battle, Hastings any Rye close enough for day trip.

Absolutely brilliant. Very comfortable and clean. Furnished to a high standard. Thanks for lovely welcome pack. Lots of information on places to visit. Andy met us on arrival just to make sure we knew where everything was. Beautiful views over the fields at the rear. Ideally situated for excellent rail service. We used train to visit Battle Abbey (worth checking English Heritage website as had discounted admission on producing valid rail ticket), and also Hastings. Bateman’s only a few miles up road is very well worth visiting. Highly recommend Willows View and definitely wish to return in the future.
