About this property

A delightful little end-terrace Peak District cottage, situated in the heart of the village of Furness Vale in the High Peak. Cosy and welcoming throughout, this Furness Vale cottage is just the place for couples to spend that much-deserved time together. In an elevated position, this Furness Vale cottage is perfectly situated for the amenities of the village, and from the garden you can watch the locals playing on the bowling green. The Peak Forest Canal runs through the village and there is also a working railway station with regular trains to Buxton and Manchester. Visit the town of New Mills with the Torrs Riverside Park, head to the Torrs Millennium Walkway, a much-admired bridge set deep in the gorge, stroll the grounds of NT Lyme Park (of TV's Pride and Prejudice fame) or spend the afternoon in Chapel-en-le-Frith, with its cobbled market place and historic old stocks. A wonderful Furness Vale cottage for a cosy, romantic stay in this part of the Peak District.

Decor is a bit dated but it did add to its charm. Nice little garden overlooking the bowls green. There are 2 pubs within a few minutes walk although neither do food and a station and bus stop also less than a 5 minute walk away. The surrounding villages are easy and cheap to get to by bus and train if you want to eat out and don’t want to drive. The only negatives are the shower is not very powerful and the light on the pathway wasn’t working so was very dark when coming home at night. But we had a great week and although it isn’t a pretty village the location was good and having the station so close was good for getting out at night.

Enjoyed sitting out the back watching the locals play bowels and walks along the canal to New Mills or Whaley Bridge

The owner was very accommodating and responded quickly to any queries I had. Perfectly placed for exploring the High Peaks area and a short drive from various towns in the area. Highly recommend :)
