Tucked behind Market Street in the heart of the historic spa town of Buxton, Ten is a cosy terraced cottage refurbished throughout in 2018. Buxton is a wonderful town to visit come rain or shine, whatever time of the year, and Ten is perfectly placed to explore all the attractions that Buxton has to offer. A short stroll will take you to the magnificent Opera House, Pavilion Gardens, Devonshire Dome and a wonderful array of shops, pubs, restaurants, coffee shops and tea rooms.
You can walk the Ring of Trees around Buxton, visit Poole’s Cavern and Buxton Country Park, ride the Victorian open top tram or pick up a Buxton ’Bike and Go’. Known as the gateway to the Peak District National Park, ample outdoor pursuits are available locally together with a whole host of Peak District towns and villages. Ever popular Bakewell and the beautiful honeypot village of Castleton are around 20 minutes’ drive and the magnificent historic houses of Lyme Park, Haddon Hall and Chatsworth House around 30 minutes. The market towns of Ashbourne, Matlock and Matlock Bath can be reached in around 40 minutes, and for those thrill seekers Britain’s premier theme park Alton Towers is just under an hour away. Shop ¼ mile, pub and restaurant 160 yards.

Clean, pleasant and comfortable accommodation. A couple of minor points.Curtains in lounge are very thin and do not completely fit the window (width) - we were fortunate and had a lot of sun but room was very warm.As seems to be the case these days - no shower or hand wash in bathroom and no kitchen roll.Parking was a slight issue for a couple of days in so far as Buxton Carnival was on at the weekend and the nearest car park was used as parking for the fair vehicles for about a week and a notice tied to a lampost advised parking in the car park may resulte in a fine. The car park was available from Monday onwards. I felt we should have been advised of this before arrival.

The cottage was conveniently placed with a pay and display car park on the doorstep which allows you to stay for over 24 hours.Good facilities inc kitchen, modern shower and two good sized bedrooms. Bottle of wine on welcome was a lovely touch.Quiet location of the cottage but also close to amenities and pubs, cafes, shops etc.The host was very welcoming despite us accidentally checking in a few minutes early - we were rushing around before a wedding.Couple very minor let downs were no hand soap (just sanitiser) and a small drop of washing up liquid. The towels could also be a little bigger - but again, super minor and didn’t really affect our short stay.
