About this property

A picturesque Georgian cottage resting in the village square of Hartington, Rose Cottage offers a rambler's retreat right in the heart of the Peak District National Park. Delight in a break in the great outdoors and return each day to this homely base, with two bedrooms it happily sleeps four people, holiday with another couple or bring your family of four on a Peaks adventure. Take in the pretty stone exterior before entering your new home from home, pulling off your walking boots in the handy front porch before stepping into the living space. A brightly burning woodburning stove set within a small fireplace creates a classic cottage atmosphere, paired alongside the elegant wing-backed armchairs and leather sofa for you to relax on while you enjoy a film on the TV. Sit at the dining table here too and use the WiFi to browse the web for inspiration, planning some last minute activities into your fun-filled trip. Continue into the country kitchen and find the shaker-style units to be home to a fantastic range of appliances to assist you on your self-catered stay, including an impressive range cooker and hob. Perch at the breakfast table in here with your breakfast, or take your morning coffee out into the rear patio garden, fashioned into a 'garden room' it benefits from shelter overhead with furniture and pretty plants beneath it. Head upstairs to the first floor when night falls and settle into the king-size bedroom, with an attractive wrought-iron bed frame and views over the village from the window, rest here and wake up to a shower in your en-suite shower room. The second bedroom is set up as a twin room, with this room enjoying rustic exposed beams above, and views over the back of the cottage, served by the shared bathroom. To the rear of the cottage you can discover the famous Hartington Cheese Shop which has been open for almost 40 years and has a fantastic reputation for selling the most wonderful and quality cheese from all around, as well as locally-made Derbyshire cheese. Drive ten miles to Stoop Farm and create unforgettable memories with an Alpaca Experience; take one of these sweet furry creatures on a ramble around the fields and offer them some treats before sitting down for some tea and cake on the farm. In the other direction, more excitement awaits at Peak Wildlife Park which specialises in bird collections and small mammals, meet a rare warty pig and watch the meerkats bobbing and scurrying about! Embark on a walk south along the Dove Valley from the village of Hartington and circle round to the west to visit Thor's Cave leading up to Wetton Hill, a great peak offering stunning, commanding views of the area. Marvel at the grand stately home of Haddon Hall, a Tudor hall with Elizabethan gardens settled beneath Bakewell, while the magnificent Chatsworth House is not to be missed either, frequently used as a filming location for period dramas, it rests alongside the River Derwent and offers a fantastic day out. Follow the High Peak Trail for an easy way to discover the area, or hire bikes to cycle past this incredible scenery. Enjoy a break full of activities and great company in the Peaks at the delightful Rose Cottage.

Hartington is a quaint village lying in the Dover Valley in the beautiful Peak District National Park. Offering a great selection of shops and local village retailers, as well as a few pubs and cafés, this village is the perfect base for enjoying a break in the heart of Derbyshire.
