Peak View Terrace is a stylish terraced property situated in Buxton, Derbyshire. Well-suited to two couples, families and friends seeking a base near the Peak District National Park. Pull up and make use of the available parking before approaching the stone exterior, where an open gate leads you towards the entrance. Step inside and you arrive directly into the sitting room, a bright and stylish space where wooden flooring runs underfoot and artwork lines the walls. Sink into the sofa or settle into the armchair with the TV on, while a potted plant adds a fresh touch to the room as you unwind after a day outdoors.
From here, move through to the kitchen and dining area, where tiled flooring and wooden countertops are paired with white fixtures to create a clean and practical space. Set the kettle boiling as you prepare breakfast or gather ingredients for an evening meal, then take a seat on the bench seating around the table to enjoy time together over food and plans for the days ahead. Also on the ground floor, a double bedroom provides a flexible sleeping arrangement, offering a convenient space to rest at the end of the day. Climb the carpeted stairs to the first floor, where the second bedroom awaits, matching the same bright and spacious feel, with room to settle in and recharge ready for another day of exploring.
Outside, the garden provides a patio area with furniture, giving you a place to enjoy a morning drink or sit out together as the evening draws in. A pub is just a short stroll away, with a shop also within easy reach, while a nearby river offers a pleasant route for a gentle walk. Venture into Buxton to explore the Pavilion Gardens, where manicured lawns, colourful displays, and a relaxed café setting invite you to spend an afternoon wandering through the grounds and pausing beside the lake. Step into Buxton Opera House to admire its Edwardian design, take in a live performance, or simply enjoy the atmosphere of this historic venue, before making your way to The Crescent to take in its sweeping Georgian architecture and learn about its past.
Head to Bakewell and browse a mix of independent shops, pause in cafés overlooking the river as it flows gently through the town, and sample the well-known pudding that has long been associated with the area. Wander along the riverside paths, cross over the stone bridges, and take in the character of this market town at your own pace. A visit to Chatsworth House offers impressive interiors filled with artwork and craftsmanship, extensive gardens that unfold into different themed areas, and parkland where you can spot wildlife while taking in far-reaching views across the estate. Peak View Terrace provides the perfect base for your Peak District escape.
It was the constant 28 degrees centigrade of the bubbling blue waters of Buxton's eight thermal springs that originally attracted the Romans to the town. However it was during the 18th and 19th centuries, under the patronage of successive Dukes of Devonshire, that the Palladian splendour of the Buxton of today was designed and built - including the magnificent semi-circular Crescent, The Great Stable, Hall Bank, The Square, The Pavilion Gardens and The Opera House. Today visitors continue to enjoy these magnificent buildings and gardens, as well as the Opera House's full programme and annual festivals of music and arts. There is good walking close by with rugged peaks to the north and gentle hills and dales to the south and a number of pretty towns and villages are dotted throughout including Bakewell, Ashford-in-the-Water, Castleton and Edale. The stunning properties of Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall are within easy driving distance and must be seen while visiting this area. A great base for exploring the Peak District.
