The bubbling blue waters of Buxton's eight thermal springs, which maintain a constant 28 degrees Celsius, first drew the Romans to the town. Buxton's current Palladian splendour was designed and built in the 18th and 19th centuries by successive Dukes of Devonshire, this includes the magnificent semi-circular Crescent, The Great Stable and Hall Bank. These magnificent buildings and gardens, as well as the Opera House's full programme and annual festivals of music and arts, are still open to the public today. Many picturesque towns and villages can be found throughout the area, such as Bakewell, Ashford-in-the-Water, Castleton, and Edale, all of which offer excellent hiking opportunities. Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall, two of the area's most awe-inspiring landmarks, are just a short drive away. The Peak District is easily accessible from this location.

Situated in a quiet location , which is not too far away from all the amenities that Buxton has to offer . Certainly would book this apartment again when visiting Buxton.

The cottage is comfortable and tastefully decorated, in-keeping with the period of the building. It is also well-equipped; some reviewers before us had commented on the faulty dishwasher, but we were thrilled to find it worked perfectly. We went over New Year, and the only slight disappointment was that the apartment wasn't decorated for Christmas, which would have made it even lovelier. Only slight niggle was that we moved some of the living room furniture around so the sofa was nearer the TV, and found on moving the sofa and rug that it evidently hadn't been hoovered under for quite a while, because there was quite a lot of debris under there... we'd have happily cleaned, but there was no access to a hoover or other cleaning products. Would recommend though - lovely area and accommodation.

Staying in November the central heating was frequently on and is efficient keeping the whole apartment warm. The location is excellent - through a gate at the back of the house and you are in a park - a short walk through the park and you are at the main entrance of the Pavillion.
