Lower Ivy cottage is a lovely, traditional limestone cottage in a super position on the edge of Youlgreave with wonderful views from every window over Bradford Dale. Dating from the 18th century the cottage has been fully renovated to provide modern facilities whilst retaining all its character including quarry tiled and slate floors, mellow pine dresser, log burning stove and lots of other country features.

Bradford Dale with its trout pools is beautiful and as you wander along the footpath you will see kingfishers, herons and dippers playing in the river as it splashes down the valley. Up in the centre of Youlgreave you will realise that this is a 'real' village with high quality butchers and general store, post office and three pubs doing lovely food and drinks.The village has an attractive Georgian main street and one of the finest 15th century churches in Derbyshire.

Walks fan out from the cottage in every direction over the Peak District hills but when your feet get tired visit nearby Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall, Bakewell with its 'puddings' and Matlock Bath in its breathtaking gorge. For the kids there is everything from water rafting, go-karting, cable car daring, steam train riding, cavern exploring and castle storming.

Cottage facilities:

A sunny porch with seating. A cosy and comfortable lounge with cottage-style suite, main dining table and chairs, log burning stove, flat screen T.V., DVD, stereo system, Wi Fi and door to the patio. A well equipped modern kitchen with cooker, microwave, fridge-freezer, dishwasher, automatic washer and table and chairs for three people. A lovely double bedroom with en-suite W.C. and wonderful views down the dale. A twin bedroom also with superb views. A downstairs shower room with W.C.

Linen and towels are provided. Central heating, power and fuel for the stove are included. There is a cottage garden and patio with furniture and views over the dale. Loading and unloading are possible on the lane adjacent to cottage and parking is available nearby, either further along the lane or by the river 100 yards down the hill. Pets and smoking are not permitted. The cottage is not suitable for children under four years of age. Access for people with disabilities may be difficult.

Weekly bookings are normally Saturday to Saturday. Short breaks are not accepted at this cottage.
