Railwayman's Cottage is a beautiful 19th-century terraced cottage, overlooking the historic village of Rowsley and the scenic River Derwent. Its location is perfect for an action-packed or relaxed family break, being located on the B6102 Chatsworth Road.

From here as a base our guests are free to explore all that the magnificent Peak District has to offer, picturesque historical towns and attractive charming villages, remarkable walks, and historical landmarks.

The property is conveniently located as there's a variety of local shops, restaurants and the Peak Village shopping centre is just a 5-minute walk down the road. At evening or for lunch take a wander over to one of the traditional 18th-century pubs right on the property's doorstep, enjoying a meal and a beer after one of the many country walks.

The list of adventures will quite easily fill up a week's holiday. Just over three miles away from the property is the majestic Chatsworth House & Park, home to the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire.

The charming market town of Bakewell is great for another day out, offering trips to Thornbridge Brewery, Bakewell Old House Museum, Haddon Hall, and Chatsworth Farmyard and Adventure Playground.

Be adventurous at the outdoor activity centre, Dolomite Training, where you can go climbing, caving, abseiling, mountain biking, and navigation courses, while other nearby local attractions include Caudwell's Mill Trust, Carsington Water which is a delightful spot for a picnic in the summer.

Just 5 miles South East is the world-renowned Matlock Bath home to the interesting Peak District Mining Museum & The heights of Abraham, A unique and special day out. Gulliver's Kingdom is also a very worthwhile attraction especially for families with younger children.

Walkers will find that Railwayman's Cottage is perfectly placed to suit all tastes and abilities. Whether you're looking for short walks, long walks, or maybe waterfall walks or cave walks, we have plenty here for you to choose from.

If biking is your passion then keen cyclists will enjoy this location as Rowsley Bar has been named in the top 100 climbs in Britain. The World famous Monsal Trail is a traffic-free route for walkers, cyclists, horse riders, and wheelchair users through some of the Peak District's most spectacular limestone dales. Bike hire is also available at the location.

The cottage welcomes you in with a warm interior filled with character, with a wonderfully proportioned sitting room accompanied with tasteful decor and plenty of amenities for your entertainment, including games, books, and a smart TV with a complimentary Netflix account. The wood-burning stove sits in the fireplace ready to spark into life just when you need it.

The kitchen/diner area has an electric oven, induction hob, and microwave, there's even a dishwasher to help you with the cleaning up should you require it.

If you have little ones, this property provides a travel cot, stairgate, and highchair in the downstairs storage room cupboard, so you don't need to pack any of these things ahead of your journey.

Two bedrooms can be found upstairs, both offering wonderful views of the Derbyshire countryside and with ample storage, consisting of a king-size master bedroom and a second bedroom with triple bunk bed with a double below and a single on top, great for the kids to have a fun sleepover. The large family bathroom is also situated upstairs with Toilet, Bath, and Shower. The property is heated via a Nest thermostat that is set at a comfortable temperature at all times.

The enclosed garden courtyard is for your sole use and is where you might bump into Tom the big brown fluffy cat that puts in an appearance from time to time and also hear Molly the Springer Spaniel scampering about in the garden next door.

There is also an outdoor lock-up outhouse where you can store your bikes if required and also use the washing machine if needed.

Parking is available at the front or back of the courtyard in a nearby car park, which is shared with other houses nearby.

Rowsley is a small village located south of Chatsworth, home to the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire, and is a short journey away from Haddon Hall. Peak Village is close by, hosting traditional sweet shops, an ice cream parlour and historic attractions including Caldwell's Mill and Peak Rail. Rowsley has plenty of attractions and activities including shops, galleries, pubs, restaurants and fishing. The neighbouring town of Bakewell is home to the famous Bakewell pudding which you can find locally. Peak District trails such as the Derwent Valley cycle way, the Monsal Trail and the Rowsley Bar Hill Climb are all within close proximity and Alton Towers is just a short drive away making Rowsley the perfect destination for the whole family.
