Elsewhere in the region is the breathtaking Peak District National Park, perfect for any outdoor adventure, as well as the popular Alton Towers Theme Park. Mappleton is in the Dove and Manifold Valley, close to Ashbourne and the Peak District National Park. It is a redbrick-built village offering a pub serving food. Ashbourne is 1.5 miles away and boasts a range of amenities including a good choice of shops and restaurants, wine bars and fascinating antique shops. Nearby attractions include the popular Alton Towers Theme Park and plenty of outdoor opportunity, such as Tissington Trail and Thorpe Cloud, which is an imposing 1000ft limestone hill.
