About this property

This delightfully-presented, semi-detached cottage sits next to the owner’s home, in the pretty little village of Kniveton, on the edge of the Peak District National Park. Dating back over 300 years, this stone cottage was originally the village bakery and still features the original stone hearth. Ideal for a family or group of friends, the cottage is beautifully furnished making a very comfortable home-from-home. The bedrooms and bathroom are spacious and decorated to a high standard, and the sitting room with contemporary wood flooring and luxurious sofas is a great place to sit and chat or snuggle up for a movie. The farmhouse-style kitchen/diner is great for a meal while discussing your plans, which could be anything from shopping in the lovely market town of Ashbourne, to kayaking on the nearby beautiful Carsington Water. Outside, there’s a real sun trap of a tiered garden, great for alfresco dining, and an excellent people watching platform! It’s an area where you are spoilt for choice for things to see and do, though you might just venture as far as the village pub across the road. Cyclists who are drawn to this veritable biker’s Mecca will be pleased to note that there is a lockable shed to store your trusty machine. So whether you enjoy watching birdlife from the shores of a lake, sampling real ales and artisan produce or action and adventure, there’s always something for you at this lovely cottage retreat.

Steeped in history and situated at the southern end of the Peak District, the lovely village of Kniveton sits in a deep hollow on the slope of Madge Hill, offering home to a scattering of traditional stone cottages, a village pub and a delightful old church built in the 13th century. Surrounded by lovely rolling countryside and situated close to the excellent watersport facilities at Carsington Water, this great location provides the ideal base from which to explore the surrounding area.
