Retaining much of the original charm and character, with beamed ceilings and interesting little niches, this delightful holiday cottage, with excellent Wi-Fi signal, situated adjacent to the owners’ home, is ideally placed for exploring this beautiful area. There is also a large array of outdoor space, perfect for your four-legged friends to roam free. The market town of Ashbourne, ‘Gateway to the Peak District’, and Dovedale are only 3 miles away where guests will find a good choice of shops, restaurants and pubs. Carsington Water offers sailing, windsurfing, rafting and canoeing and is an ideal place to spend a day out in the Derbyshire countryside. This is a wonderful location for walking and touring with Chatsworth House, Matlock, Buxton, Bakewell and the Potteries only a short drive away. Shop 3 miles, restaurant 1 mile and pub 500 yards.

Location is excellent for exploring, Dovedale, Carsington water, Ashbourne and the Tissington trail.The property is advertised as dog friendly and i notice all the reviews are from dog lovers. For me i noticed the smell of dog as soon as i entered the cottage. This did disappear when doors and windows opened. The kitchen has the bare basics, but was missing some elements eg potato peeler and baking sheet. Sadly the oven was not very clean and would benefit from a full professional oven clean. The master bedroom is well situated in the property. The bed is a small double and would benefit from a new mattress. The current one is very soft and uneven and i nearly fell out of bed.The lounge diner is a good size and the electric heater very powerful and kept room cosy in the evenings. The sofas are tired and covered in throws to protect from dogs but i think they were also ‘hiding’ an old suite. The bathroom is fine with a good electric shower.The garden area is lovely. There is a greenhouse which appeared to have some furniture it, I didn’t access as I didn’t know how to get in and it was warm enough to sit out.Parking is good and a decent size space.

We loved this cottage. It was in a perfect spot for walking with our dog and had everything we needed for a lovely comfortable stay. We couldn’t fault it.The little enclosed garden was absolutely great and our greyhound thoroughly appreciated it 😁We will definitely book another visit
